Since this is the day for insurance questions

My insurance covers IF diagnostics.  Does this mean it will cover a SA for DH even if he is not on my insurance?

The doctor told me they were submitting it under my insurance but ended up submitting it under his and it came back denied.  Wondering if it is worth calling them and asking them to submit under mine.

Re: Since this is the day for insurance questions

  • I'm no insurance expert, but I doubt they would cover it. Why don't you just call your insurance and ask them?

  • I know it did not work that way at Kaiser.  I had another nestie friend who had Kaiser like me, but her DH didn't have any insurance.   They would have had to pay OOP for any of his testing.

I guess that is a call and find out situation.

  • I doubt it, but it would not hurt to call. Luckily SAs are pretty cheap. DHs was only $80 without insurance coverage.

  • Thanks for all of the replies.  I will give them a call.  It was around $125 so not terrible, but probably the first of a lot of bills now...Ugh...
