Infertility

intro

Hi Ladies,

I have been posting on TTGP board.  DH and I have been trying to have baby#1 since last May.  I am 29, DH is 30.  I have celiac disease (cannot eat gluten).

Had my appointment with the RE this morning.  Was expecting everything to be ok.  They had told me that all of my tests (day 3 bloods, ultrasounds, FSH levels etc) were fine.  I also had my HSG last week and it went well.  DH had a SA analysis in early February and when I had called the nurse said it was normal and that the Dr. would go over it at our follow up visit.  Well today the doctor says DH's SA showed normal motility but low concentration and low morphology of 5%.  I was completely shocked!!!!   DH and I were taken aback and said that he would do a 2nd SA and go see a urologist.  We are not quite ready for IUI IVF but are sad that the Dr said she thinks we would have to do 3 cycles of IUI and then go to IVF.  We are still hoping to conceive naturally but not sure if we are just kidding ourselves.  I am so confused.     Anyone deal with this type of motility issue?  Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated!

Re: intro

  • Hi there.  We have low count and low motility, but I also have issues (pcos and stage III endometriosis).  We are on stims for our second shot at IVF.  Wishing you luck in this crazy journey.

  • Welcome to the board but sorry you have to be here!  There are a lot of ladies on the board who have dealt with MFI, and I totally understand how overwhelming everything is after you see the RE for the first time.  FWIW, I would try not to worry too much (if that is possible) until you get the second SA back...there are sometimes big differences, and I think it is a "good sign" that the RE thinks you are eligible for IUI without jumping straight to IVF.
