H*E*L*P Need advice!!!!!!!!!!

So Ive been noticing that Lilly (our month old 1st baby) is already starting to learn that when she is sitting in her swing (which she will not sleep in her crib at all) and im trying to get her asleep she will look around to make sure that you are there and even then someimes cry because shes wanting to be held...I will try to let her cry for awhile but then I feel bad or she will get heself all worked up..any suggestions on how to get her to "self sooth" herself or get a way to break that cycle before it gets worse??

has anyone else had this prob?

  • Our pedi told us to attend to his needs right now and in a few months he should start to self soothe. Are you trying cry it out already? That's not recommended until 4 months

  • One month old babies haven't learned to manipulate, and they're a bit too young to self-soothe. That comes later, like around 3-4 months from what I understand. If your baby is crying as if she needs you, she probably does. I wouldn't worry so much about these things right now. Just enjoy and snuggle your baby. :)

If it helps, though, my DS closes his eyes almost instantly once I offer a paci. He can fall asleep in his swing, bassinet or PNP as long as he is sucking on something. He usually spits it out after a couple mins and doesn't need it after that; it just helps soothe him so he can fall asleep.

  • She physically can't self soothe yet...not until 3-4 months. Pick up your baby
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • yah- im with the other gals on this one- i've read that bad habits cannot be made until two months plus, so sounds like your babe wants/needs momma!

  • It's normal.  Ditto what the others said.  Try a carrier so you can "hold" the baby and still have your hands free to do stuff.
