D.C. Area Babies

Thinking of a Babymoon to DC?!?

DH and I love museums and we've been considering a long weekend to DC to explore the Smithsonian. We were thinking of taking a train from NC to Union Station and then using the Metro (please forgive me if I'm using the wrong nickname) to get around. Does this sound reasonable? Any suggestions on good hotels near the museums?

 Thanks Ladies!

  • this weekend or next would be perfect the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom

(sorry, I don't have hotel recs but your plan sounds great!)

  • Hotel Monaco is a Kimpton property within walking distance of the Mall that I'd recommend. Any of the Kimptons are great, especially if you join their free membership program. There are some great restaurants clustered in the area as well - Proof for wine, tapas at Jaleo (Spanish) or Zaytinya (Mediterranean), Central, Rasika for Indian.

Another hotel I'd recommend is the Circle Hotel, which is on the same train line as the Smithsonian, and has good weekend packages.

    Enjoy DC!

  • I don't have any hotel recs - but, your overall plan sounds great.

I think that any hotel you pick that is close to a Metro station will be a good place to start.

  • I think DC would make a great babymoon.  Ditto finding a hotel near a metro.  The out of town guests at my agency stay at The Dupont in Dupont Circle.  Apparently they all love it and it's right near the Dupont Circle metro stop.  Just an idea.

  • Agreed, this is a great idea, the weather is just turning right too. Plus like others said the Cherry Blossoms are about to sprout, and personally, I think they are worth dealing with the crowd, and far too pretty to pass up.

I second the Kimpton hotel recommendation!

  • Depending on what you want your evenings to be like, the areas near the Smithsonian kind of shut down at night and there aren't a lot of good restaurants.

I don't have a lot of hotel experience. But I think Hotel Monaco or the Dupont would be great locations. They're central to most things and an easy trip on the Metro to the Museums.
