Dh and I have talked about it...if we were to take a road trip...we would start at night so dd can sleep the majority of it.
We know a family who has 3 kids....all ages , 1 years, 4 years and 14 years. they always start at night.....they travel from FL to TN about every other month or so (I know a lot of driving) and they always start at their bedtime.
Sept1799 - we considered leaving at night or even late afternoon. We were worried that 2 tired parents driving in the middle of the night would be dangerous. Even if we left after dinner at 6pm - that would get us to our destination at 3am at the earliest...
We just went on a normally 6+ hour drive. We left at night so LO would sleep and she did for most of it. She woke up twice. We left at 8-8:30 and got there a little after 3 am.
The problem was that she woke up when we got there and was freaked out about being somewhere different. She didn't go to sleep until 5 I think. And woke up for the day at 9. We got 4 hours of sleep. It sucked.
