He hates clothes

DS has always been very sensitive when it comes to clothes. It started with jackets and sweaters, he would scream until I took them off, so we settled for bundling him up with blankets if we left the house. As of two nights ago, he will only sleep in a onsie. He starts screaming when I was trying to get his pajamas on, and won't stop until I take them off. I guess it's not a big deal, but I'm just wondering if this is an indication of something more serious? Anyone else deal with this?

  • No experience with this, but would he wear a sleep sack? You could put him in that and a onesie if you're worried about him being cold.

  • I haven't tried a sleep sack yet. Not sure if he'll have the same reaction since it's sort of like a coat, but it's definitely worth a try.

  • The sleep sacks don't have arms, so it may not feel like a coat to him.  Plus, if you get one big enough, his legs should have plenty of room to kick around.  You can get fleece or cotton sacks.

  • DD had this problem a bit, but she's getting better. I don't know that she really hated the clothes as much as having them put on, but I can say it all slowly went away. Now she just doesn't like laying there while I put her clothes on, but if I sit her up and let her look at something (lotion jar, whatever) I can slip stuff over her head and she keeps busy. Soon you'll be able to distract him easily when he gets upset. It's funny how quickly that helps when R's unhappy about things.
