I need to order some CD detergent, and am debating Nellies or Charlies Soap. I have tried Allens and RnG, and they were okay (I definitely didn't love them), but seemed pricey. RnG seemed to help with the ammonia we got from using Allens, but my diapers still smell funky. Granted, we use some microfiber, so I guess that's part of the problem. I know everyone likes something different, based on your water, and your kiddo, so I'm just looking for some recommendations. We have regular city water, a little hardness, but not much. I've thought about the blog detergent, but it just seems like a lot of money to buy all the stuff, and then possibly not like it.
Thanks!
Re: Nellies or Charlies? (or something else)
You could make a smaller batch of the blog detergent to test it out if you wanted.
I love Planet. I get it on amazon from subscribe and save. I don't think it's very expensive and my last bottle lasted me over 8 months. I use the liquid but I think they have a powder and HE formula.

I didn't know that! I love Abby's Lane! Do you have any idea why Allen's isn't recommended?
Ds has allergies to Tide, Cheer, Sun, and Purex. I use Planet for our clothes. I've tried a few times with our diapers (always using hot water with the last rinse being warm) but it couldn't get them clean and left some funk. RnG didn't get them clean. I haven't tried Country Save or even heard of Mountain Green.
I have some Nellie's and really like it.
I have seen some people rec. Tide as pp mentioned, but it's not EF and they don't disclose their ingredients, so I don't use it. Just my 2 cents.

This is my thought as well. Maybe I'll just get the Nellies. Thanks everyone for your help!
I've been using Country Save for over 2.5 years and we love it. I haven't really had any ammonia issues to speak of (we also use a little vinegar with each wash in the fabric softener spot). It's quite affordable, too, and we use it on all of our laundry
The thing with using Tide in your machine for a long time is that it can wear out the machine (this according to my DH, the maytag repairman). I have nothing to back that up except for DH's word, though...
We tried Charlie's and RnG before finding Eco Sprouts. RnG left a wet dog smell on our diapers. We also use a lot of MF inserts so I know that's part of the issue. Eco Sprouts has been awesome! No stink at all!
