Anyone use NuvaRing for birth control?
OB just gave me three months worth to try out when my body gets rolling but I am not 100% sure I am all for it yet. So if you have experience with it, good or bad, can you tell me about it?
Also, I am hoping to skip periods due to keeping PMDD symptoms at bay and even though they say it is not FDA approved to do that she said I can still do it with the NuvaRing. If you have any experience with that too, tell away!
TIA
Re: NuvaRing
I used it for about 6 months I think. It's easy to put in and I didn't notice any side effects. I think it's great... for someone who is not sexually active.
Everytime we fooled around it was literally a game of "ring toss". The darn thing would get pushed out of place and hit on my pubic bone and feel uncomfortable until I took it out. It says in the booklet that it can be left out for up to 3 hours then rinsed off and put back in, so if you plan on some action then you can just take it out ahead of time.
I definitley recommend using the sample you got. It has alot of good things about it. And it made my periods alot lighter even after only taking it for 6 months it took over 3 months to get a period after I stopped taking it.
Well that would be a mood killer..."Wait, wait, let me take out my vaginal ring first!"
I guess we will see what happens with the three she gave me. Is there a possibility you were not placing it far enough up there?

I was on this for six years before this pregnancy. Pills were awful for me, gave me migraines. I loved the niva ring. My OB had told me to stretch out my cycles, so I did 4 weeks in, 1 week out. And for certain occasions I would skip a cycle.
It worked well for me. I have really heavy flow during my period and if I can skip, that says a lot (at least to me). Also, sex was never uncomfortable for DH or I. He noticed it in the begining, but quickly got over it. I never found it uncomfortable enough to remove before sex. And never lost it or anything.
I would love to go back on it after I have DD, but my OB doesn't reccomend it for women who will be nursing so I am hoping to try the IUD. Good luck!
Edited to add: I had the most success putting it in sitting down (on the toilet), and I would twist it into a figure 8 so it was more compact and sturdy. It will spring back once inside, but that allowed me to get it far enough in that it was comfortable. I also don't like tampons cause I can feel them and this BC didn't bother me at all.
