  Just found out we're moving!  We're leaving sunny san diego for northern NY and I have very mixed emotions.  I'm wondering if anyone is from the area that could give me some feel of the area or good places to live, visit, etc. Thanks!

  Are you military?  If so, I assume you're headed to the Fort Drum area?  I'm in the Albany area, so not way north- more like mid NY.  I went to college in Potsdam, NY which is way up by the canadian border and student taught out in Watertown, NY which is very close to the military base.  Let me know where and I might be able to give you some info.

  DH went to college in Plattsburg College.  It's a fine area and has much more to do than many areas of the "north country".  It's a short ferry ride over to Burlington, Vermont which has a lot of nice shops, activities, etc. especially in the summer months.  I'm about 2 hours south of Plattsburg.

  I went to college in Plattsburgh!  It was a long time ago, so I'm not much help to you, but just thought it was weird to see someone talk about it!

  Good luck with the move!  It's beautiful up there!
