Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone's LO still not...

"hands and knees" crawling? DS army crawls, and fast! He gets around really good. He will get on hands and knees when he needs to dodge an obstacle, or to sit up, but has no interest in doing it consistantly... He's 9 months and is acting like he wants to stand, he has even pulled up a few times, but for some reason, it concerns me that he only "scoots". Could not getting on hands and knees affect his co-ordination?

Re: Anyone's LO still not...

  • R didn't crawl until just after 10 months, she didn't army crawl either. She was pretty much non-mobile until then and one day with no warning at all she started crawling. Nine months is the average age to start, but up to a year is normal.

  • Thanks. That is encouraging. I guess it just seems like all the other LOs his age are crawling (IRL anyways). Good to know we aren't weirdos. Lol. :)

  • DD does a slow butt scoot but no crawling. She loathes being on her stomach for even a moment and has her whole little life.

  • DS army crawls too...and really fast!!! He is starting to pull himself up and wants to walk with assistance everywhere, i dont think he will crawl on his hands and knees i think he will just go from army crawling to walking!

  • My son sounds like yours, he can scoot super fast, but doesn't get all the way onto his knees to do so.  DS is a week shy of 9 mo.  I think he has more difficulty because of our hardwood floors because he does better on carpet.  I'm not worried, 9 months is not abnormal to start crawling.
