It seems like the bigger I get the more self conscious I am about my weight. I know it's just a number (that nobody knows except me and my doc) but it still kinda bugs me. I didn't start out at the ideal weight so I was hoping not to gain as much but I'm entering my 29th week and I'm already up to 25 pounds. from everything I've read, that's what I'm supposed to gain for the whole pregnancy!
My doctor doesn't have any concerns about my weight, but I do. This is my first pregnancy - is that a normal gain or am I in trouble?? Where is everyone else weighing in right now?
Re: How are you doing with weight gain?
i guess i technically haven't gained anything yet
i lost 10lbs from ms, and just today i weight myself and i've officially gained that 10lbs back. but i'm overweight as well, so that's a good thing for me.
with my first two i gained about 30lbs total... with my daughter i gained 60lbs and that was miserable...
you're not in trouble at all if your doctor says you aren't.
Ditto. I lost 15 lbs due to MS, and now I'm back up 15, so a net of 0. I have been bobbing within a pound or two above or below my starting weight for a few weeks now. I am getting a bit concerned about that!
every women is different and will gain weight differently - one of my friends told me she only gained 17 pounds (8 kilos) her whole pregnancy - i was so embarressed when i said holy hell i gained that mid way through second tri!!
I've now gained about 10 kilos (22 pounds) but about 4 pounds of that would be in my boobs!
I wouldn't be concerned - i was very small pre-preg so i guess this is my bodys way of making sure i'm the right weight to carry baby to term - well thats what i put it down to anyways
I've gained 18lbs from my "low" weight (lost a few in the beginning), or 15lbs from my pre-preg weight.
Like pp said, if your doctor isn't concerned, you don't need to be concerned. Plus, 25 is not a magic number. If you were average weight pre-preg, the recommended weight gain is 25-35. If you gain 1lb per week, you're on track to gain right around 35...even if you go over a few lbs, that's no big deal either, as long as you are healthy.
I'm up about 20 lbs. I got pregnant about a month after our wedding so I was in pretty good shape. For most of the pregnancy I really just felt all belly. Yesterday however, I put on a pair of my workout capris for the first time since the fall. They were SO snug around my butt and thighs!! I burst into tears right away. It is so hard to take in for the first time! I'm a runner and have always been in fairly good shape so this is all new to me. I know its all for the good of our baby but still!! Hubby told me I was beautiful and I just had a baby in there and I cried "The baby is NOT in my butt!!" LOL He also offered to take me shopping (as did my parents who happened to stop by right in the middle of this!). It was sweet but there was NO way I wanted to shop feeling like I did. Sorry for the vent...I'm much better today! I enjoy working out so I know I'll be motivated to lose this lovely weight once we settle into a routine. (hopefully!!!)

I'm pushing 30lbs of weight gain (at 29 weekss) and my doctor isn't worried at all...I ask him at each visit and he says I'm fine...I had no ms so I have only gained weight....I did have one major spurt in the second trimester of 12lbs in 6 weeks but outside of that 6 week period I gain about 1 to 1.5lbs/week.
What bugs me is my doctor's scale says I weight 7lbs more than the one at home so I always feel fatter when I leave the docs office lol
Been away from theBump for a while, getting active again for all the good advice
