I started PTing Lil last Wednesday and she has done really well BUT she wont tell me she has to pee until she has already gone a little in her underwear. I rush her to the potty every time and she goes more but her underwear is already wet. I tried putting her on the potty every so often (when she doesnt tell me she has to go) but she gets upset and mad. Im not sure what to do. I could really use some advice from you ladies that have been there already:)
Re: So I need PTing advice.
I haven't been there so I really have no right to talk!
But
maybe she is still mastering the sensation/knowing part. Like almost checking or testing...I can imagine she feels like she needs to pee, then checks and yep! she needs to, so then she stops and tells you. My vote is that she needs a little more time to master this part of it and I think you are right to back off from the putting her on every so often, so that she can continue to have the control and run the show. Sounds like she is doing pretty good. Wait her out for another week and see if it doesn't get better or stop.
And if seasoned PT moms chime in after me, listen to them and disregard what I have said. I know nothing about and don't "do" PTing. Yes, my child may be screwed.
We have been PT for a few weeks and it just in the past couple of days Lily has been actually telling me that she has to go before going in her pants.
Before that I would either ask (until she started saying no even if she did have to go) or suggesting we go try. We were able to catch everything with this method, but it does get exhausting after a while. I am glad she is finally listening to her body.
GL! PT has been pretty much as horrible as I expected. ;b
Edit- I agree with the poster above about building breaks into the day. That is how I am able to suggest she try. We are leaving the house- you should try to go on the potty, we just got home- you should try, dinner is ready- you should try to go, etc.
