Girl Name help

I really really love the name Kristiana.  I know the spelling is unconventional but its my name with just an a at the end.  Im not trying to be vain, but I have loved it ever since I saw a street name called that.  I guess the vain part is that I do want to spell it like my name and not the Christiana way.  The full name would be Kristiana Grace (Grace is my grandmother's name).  Im really hoping I am having a girl that way my grandma will be around to see this as she is 92.

Thoughts/comments/concerns...  Do you like or hate??

TIA!

  • It's a pretty name and I like the spelling but I'm not a fan of it because it's your name only slightly modified.  But it's your baby so you can name her whatever you want!  :-)

  • It shouldn't be odd to name a child after yourself (men do it all the time), but I have to admit I kind of raise an eyebrow. I'm not big on parents naming children after themselves, though.

It's not the weirdest thing ever, but I think the least you can do is spell it correctly. You might even consider using it as a middle name instead. I prefer the simplicity of Grace as the first name myself, but I'm also not into flowery long names, either.

So really, Christiana Grace is a fine name, and looks best this way.

  • Thanks for the comments but its not a matter of it spelled incorrectly because its not.  Its just like John and Jon, or Sara and Sarah, or Christina or Kristina.  Its purely just based on your preference of the spelling of a particular name.  But I competely understand that you lke "Christiana Grace" better. Thanks for the input.

Sorry, Alliejo, but it IS spelled correctly. It is just not as common in the US (which tends towards a lot of Ch/C names instead of K)

Shoot, when I'm lazy and don't research, I lose.

    Thanks for pointing that out!

ETA: OP, I apologize. I think I'm a little jaded by the K craze. But you're totally right.

  • Love the name Kristiana!  Very different.  but maybe i'm prejudice because I love names ending in Ana and Anna!

I'm not a fan of grace as a middle name though, i hate filler middle names, but that's just my style!  But i do love names that have family meaning :)

But the point is, I love Kristiana, very good choice.

  • OMG I am so sick of ppl tossing around the "spell it correctly" line. Almost every C name that has been around for a while has a K counterpart in at least one other language.

That said, I am not a fan of juniors at all, or anything too similar to a parent esp. since she may also end up being called Kris. But, it is pretty and I love that you want to honor your grandmother.

  • My only thought is that your name/nicknames and your daughter's nicknames might be the same/really really similar.  I think the name is cute but I can imagine that it might be easy for mix ups to occur.
