Not only do we have to pay every year because we have zero deductions (except our house and property taxes) but this year the nice lady at H&R Block decided to give me unsolicited advice that I should have a kid or 2 so I could have more deductions.
Really?!
I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal

5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest

5/06 -2nd baby had no heartbeat at 14 wks.
D&E - Bled out. Blood transfusions. Week in ICU - Cheated Death!
Diagnosis: Blood clotting and bleeding disorder, immune issues, & cervical stenosis
5/10 - 1st IVF cycle - BFN
FET - 10/12/10 - BFN
1/11 - IVF with PGD - BFN
IVF - May - BFN
6/11 New RE - fingers crossed!
9/11 - IVF - 4 transferred
10/13 - BFP!!

well I thought I would be a tough guy by telling her I had out of pocket medical expenses to write off and really snotty I said it was for infertility procedures. In my head I was like you got her...and then she shot back at me well that is not enough to make a difference...your AGI is too high...ouch!!
So I really walked out of there with my tail btwn my legs...and i did cry when i told the story to my husband.

I would have gotten fired if I ever said that to a client - what a dumb @$$.
Did you tell her she should seek plastic surgery for her ugly face? She could deduct it as a medical expense? ... lol

IVF #1 September 2011 - ER 9/8/2011- 8R, 5M - icsi - 1 made it to transfer - BFFN :-(
IVF #2 Lucky November 2011 - ER 11/25/2011 - 15 eggs!, 13 mature, 10 fertilized with isci - 7 made it to transfer! Transferred 1 - 8 cell and 2 - 7 cell. BFP!!!!
1st U/S - Twins! 2nd U/S - 3 heartbeats!!! - HOLY COW!!!

2 babies born on 3/27/12 and lost. Last baby born on 3/29/12 and lost at 20 weeks.

IVF #4 October 2012 - New RE. Doing PGD Testing. 8 R, 7F, 2 made it to 5 day blast for PDG testing. Both Normal (Thank you G-d!!!) 1 boy and 1 girl
transferred one beautiful 5day blast (girl)

I think you can only deduct plastic surgery if medically necessary, such as disfigurement from a fire or disease or something. I doubt ugly would fly as deductible.
