(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
14 months old this Friday!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
I think Libby has been having night terrors. One I am sure of...the other, looking back on it, I am fairly certain that was what it was. It's really scary for me, but as far as I can tell, it's not a big deal and she should outgrow it. And apparently, as scary as it is for mom and dad, baby has no recollection of it. Strange, but true.
It's taken a while for Libby to readjust to my being home after being gone for 5 days. To compound it, my mom left the day after I came home. She just came back today, so I am hoping from here things continue to improve. Libby slept really well last night (only woke once, after 7 hours of sleep and went back down for another 5) and not night terror.
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.)
We let them into her room before she was born so they could check it out and when we got home from then we brought Libby in. She was in her infant seat and we let them sniff her feet. Then, when I nursed her they got in my lap and sniffed her some more.
Once she began crawling our younger dog had some issues with snapping at her...but we rememdied that quickly and he's not done it since. That said, we don't ever leave her unattended with any of our pets (four small dogs and one cat)...just because you NEVER know! She loves all of them and is so cute petting them and laying her head on their backs.
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it?
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room?
He was great. Truth be told, we were BOTH happy to have our doula too...since she knew exactly what we needed. J was able to take breaks and not feel stressed and I had someone there who I didn't have to worry about protecting their feelings, etc. and could just express what I did/didn't need.
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big?
We had a 90-minute birthday party at a local Kindermusik studio. There were 16 guests (3 families in addition to ours) and 6 kiddies in addition to the birthday girl!
(9) We're (yet again!) out of questions (but we can recycle some old ones...)! What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
AF seems to be regular again. Not sure if I'm Oing though since I am not temping. Will probably bust out the CBEFM next cycles so I can have a few under my belt before we actively TTC#2. I am getting excited about the prospect of getting PG again this year. And a little anxious. But mainly excited and I find myself being envious of clearly PG women that I see out and about!
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 6.5 months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? a little nervous knowing crawlling is going to start anyday now. she is somehow already so mobile and she can't even crawl yet!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Dr's appt today...follow up on the ear infections. If no infections, hopefully shots on Friday
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Not really a challenge, just a change...LO moved into the Baby #2 room today at school. I am sure she will adjust well, but it is a different teacher & much crazier atmosphere (at least it was at drop off this morning). I know change is good, but I was pretty comfortable with the younger baby room.
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.) I only have a cat & I didn't do anything much beforehand. We moved about 5 months before LO arrived and we stopped letting him sleep with us then so he got used to sleeping on his own. I also had the in-laws bring over one of LO's swaddle blankets so he could get used to her smell.
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room? I thought he would do well & he did. Though he has mentioned more than once that the placenta was not very pretty and he remembered that the dr told him if he faints and hits the floor, he is staying there until they are done with me & baby (though he swears he didn't feel faint)
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big? I would like to do something small, but with DH's family there is no such thing. He has a very large immediate family and they are very close & highly offended if they are not all invited to everything. Don't get me wrong. I want them there...I just don't have a big house and a party for 50 people is way more than I would like (but I can't move the bday party to Hawaii like I did my wedding so it is what it is). It still won't be extravagant...just lots of people.
(9) We're (yet again!) out of questions (but we can recycle some old ones...)! What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?)
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
almost 4.5 months!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
feeling good. I started putting E down for naps in his crib today! He's never slept in his crib before, and MH is ready to get him out of our bed. He's more excited about it than I am - I will be a little sad...
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
6 month
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
None, I don't think - it's been a good week!
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room?
He was great. We talked about it ahead of time, and I let him know I was going to be 100% focused on ME (and he should be too, hah). He provided counter pressure for my back pain, which helped so much. Otherwise, he didn't have to do much!
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big?
Haven't thought much about it, but it will be small...
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
Bella is 20 months old and Grayson is 9 days old!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
4 I'm totally exhausted but I'm pretty sure that's to be expected. Bella said "walk" and went to the door today and we asked "do you want to go for a walk?" and she said yeah... so her and Ryan and the dog went for a walk and she loved it. She's also said "doodle doo" when you say "what does a rooster say". She's calling Grayson "bubba" and it melts my heart!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
G will have an appt this week or next for his 2 week check up. I think I posted but he met his birth weight at 4 days old! The pedi said in all of his years of practice he's never seen that and he said "you must be super mom", that made me feel great!
4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Balancing 2 of them! Ryan has only left me here alone a couple of times but man it's tough! Especially when they are both crying. She's had meltdowns and I know she's trying to adjust but it's hard for her to understand. We're trying to give her plenty of love and TLC>
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.)
We got Luna when Bella was about 1 so the dog and Bella grew up together. Now the dog is 10 months old and she hasn't been phased by us adding Grayson to the picture at all!
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it?
Ask me this in a month or two! I'm still learning. For now if the baby is crying and Bella's crying, I tend to her first because she "knows" and he doesn't... it's hard to figure out what to do but you just have to make it work. The only problem is when I'm nursing, I haven't figured out that yet. So far, I keep nursing and then tend to her when I'm finished.
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room?
He was fantastic! This time he kept asking "what can I do for you?" and I would tell him, last time he jumped right in... this time he seemed more nervous or something about it but in the end, he was fabulous. I think because we had taken the birthing class RIGHT before having her so he had just had all the what to do's and such...
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big?
We had friends and family come to our house for a backyard BBQ at our house. It was bigger than I thought but with all of DH's family there was nothing we could do about it.
(9) We're (yet again!) out of questions (but we can recycle some old ones...)! What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? (I'm most interested in how people avoid without BCP). What are your toddlers favorite toys/activities? (I feel like Bella is outgrowing everything we have for her). What songs do you sing with your LO? When do you plan to start time outs? Does redirection work for your toddler if/when they are throwing a fit?
Here's some others: What is your favorite nursing bra? Tank? What kind of clothes did you wear for easy access while out nursing? What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff? When did you start pumping to get a freezer stash? How often did you pump at first and at what time of the day? Did you just pump once a day to get a freezer stash? Did you use pacis? When did you start them? Was there any confusion? When did you start bottles? (We had MAJOR issues with Bella and the bottle and we started around 6 weeks)
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 38 weeks today!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I felt decent today, maybe because I know the end is in sight.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I go for my 38 week checkup tomorrow and I'm DREADING it because I have to get my first INTERNAL! I'm super scared because honestly, nothing has been down in that area for months so I'm a little apprehensive. But on the brightside, I am curious to see if anything is progressing in there. I'm hoping all these twinges and cramping I have been getting down there has been productive.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Just having the energy to get through my workday. It's getting exhausting, but at least it's only a couple more weeks - 3 weeks tops.
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room? I think he will do great! He has been super amazing these last couple months with just being so helpful and taking on everything while I just sit there on the couch like a lazy bum. I'm counting on him to keep my spirits up by making me laugh and keeping me occupied so I'm not seeing there anxious the whole time...I think he will deliver. We will talk in a few weeks though
(9) We're (yet again!) out of questions (but we can recycle some old ones...)! What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? Same with Sarah, I was wondering what you would wear PP before you fit back into "normal" clothes. Is this something I going to have be spending more money on for a new wardrobe?
Also, what relaxing techniques did you use during labor? We didn't do birthing classes and I'm already an anxious person as it is. I'm a nervous nellie if you haven't been able to tell

Welcome to the board!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 11 months yesterday! Getting close to the big numero uno now ...
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? More teeth! I think they each have 8 or 9 now?
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Just the 12 month checkup...I should probably schedule that, eh?
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Still the ear infections. Last week it was just one - Will's right ear. Then Dash developed them in both ears AND Will managed to get one in his left ear as well. They're fine now (on antibiotics and happy) but it's been a long, sleepless week...
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.) I thought about it, but in the end I was too lazy to bother.
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it? One at a time.
The hardest thing I had to learn was that with twins, you can't always be there for both of them. Sometimes you just have to let one cry, even if it's only for a short while. Example: when the boys were young and still being burped, they'd howl with anger whenever I took bottles away to burp them. And since I had to put both bottles down, pick up one boy, simultaneously burp and soothe him, then repeat with the other, when this happened there was always at least one child crying...and there was nothing I could do about it. I don't know if this happens with differently spaced children - I imagine it may, but at least you could explain to the eldest that you aren't ignoring or abandoning them and perhaps that helps? (But I also read Sarah's post about going to the older child first since they "know" so...I don't know lol!)
I could write a lot more, but I suspect I'm not helping in the slightest to answer the real question that's posed here lol!
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room? He was fine.
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big? Fairly small - a BBQ with family and close friends, probably not more than 20 people (including the 4 of us!). I've talked about it a bit on here lately, so I think everyone already knows what I'm thinking of...The Very Hungry Caterpillar theme, some basic food and drinks, and cupcakes. And that's pretty much it lol!
(9) We're (yet again!) out of questions (but we can recycle some old ones...)! What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? What are your three favorite books for your LO? Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)?
Welcome! (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 8 months exactly today!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Crawling!! Henry crawled for the first time on Saturday morning. He's been sooooo close for several weeks (on hands and knees, rocking back and forth). Finally he figured out how to do the hands and legs at the same time. It was like once he figured out the first few "steps," he's got it. He's been crawling everywhere now!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? In a month for 9 month visit.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? I am frustrated right now with his diaper situation at daycare. About a month ago I talked with them about trying CDing while there (up until then we CDed at home, but not at daycare). We agreed to try it for a few weeks and if it wasn't working out on either end, we'd stop. Well, I thought it was going really well, but for the past two weeks all of a sudden he's coming home in different pant every single day. So I talked to his main teacher about it yesterday, and she admitted that he's been having leaks, and she thought it wasn't going to work out. I'm okay if it doesn't work out for other reasons, but leaks perplex me, since he uses the exact same diapers at home with no leaks whatsoever. I know they're changing him often enough (I get a log at the end of the day, and he's changed about every 2 hours, same as at home). She thought maybe he's more active at school (which I doubt....he's plenty active at home). Now I'm wondering if it's a fit thing....maybe they're putting the snaps too tight/loose? Now I'm also wondering if I should try another diaper (which sucks, seeing as I have a ton invested in this kind, which like I said, work great at home). I'd really like to figure this out, I's really rather not go back to 'sposies. I like using the cloth, and it is saving us so much money and trash!
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.) Same as Lisa, I thought about it, but in the end I was too lazy. Our one cat is pretty much on her deathbed as it is, and only lives in one part of the house, and the other is not smart enough (seriously, she's has brain damage from lack of oxygen at birth) to care. She mostly avoids Henry, but every once in a while she's curious and peeks in on us playing.
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it? I'm looking forward to the answers here. We're not planning to TTC again until Henry is almost 2, but even now I wonder about how it will be.
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room? He was great, but for us it wasn't the delivery room, but the OR. He did great beforehand, since we were scheduled and I was very nervous. The night before was watched one of my favorite movies and ate a big dinner. The morning of he was awesome at telling jokes and being silly to keep my mind off being nervous. I know he was nervous, too, but he did great at not showing it too much for my benefit. And then in the OR he held my hand the whole time, and grabbed Henry as soon as he was pulled out to show me.
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big? It's going to be really small (probably only 12-15 people) at our house.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
16.5 months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Well, they survived part of the weekend without me! I successfully snuck out of bed early Saturday morning for the 5 hour drive to the bridal shower. They had a good day - LB didn't even cry when he saw I wasn't there when he woke up - yay! He went to bed at a semi-reasonable hour for dad, and was ok again again the next day when I wasn't there. I got home at noon and he was happy to see me, but not like all over me, but he did want to sit on my lap a lot that day. Success!
(3) Next appointment date? 18 month checkup
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
trying to figure out what he wants at times - the pointing and signing doesn't always work, but it's been ok.
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.)
n/a
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it? n/a
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room?
He did much better than either of us expected. He was so excited and the nurse kept giving him jobs to do, so that was good
He took the baby right after they cleaned him up/checked him out after the c-s, and he was totally in heaven
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big? We ended up having a party at the clubhouse in our complex - 20-25 ppl. I just got food from BJs - party trays and chips/etc, and cake, and some decorations. It was a good time
Ryan learned after me delivering Bella and didn't watch me delivering the placenta this time. He said that was the WORST part of the entire L&D! He said he could handle everything else but that made him want to pass out
What kind of diapers are you using? I know with our PF's if the ENTIRE PF is not contained in the cover then B's clothes get wet aka "leaks". We had to teach my SIL (our DCP) to be sure it was all the way covered, once she got the hang of that, there were no more "leaks"... we've only had 3 leaks or so at home EVER! Maybe you just need to refresh them on how tight/loose to make the diaper/cover.
FB were finicky even for a full time cloth diaper-er like me. I once read this tip on a diaper board - dry erase mark the snaps you want them to use just to make sure they are getting the fit you want. Other than that make sure they know the diaper can't be twisted and must lay flat (i.e. PUL layer must be fully facing out in every spot). That last tip helped us with getting the infant room teachers more use to the BG organic AIO (they snap and are not top stitched so you have to really pay attention and make sure the fabric is all under the PUL on the inner leg area.
You are totally right though, leaks from diapers that work well for you at home shouldn't be a reason for them to say its not working out.
Welcome and congrats! You're in the third tri...how exciting!
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
This happened to us during E's first week at daycare. She'd go home in a different outfit each time! Lately, I've been sending them the BG 3.0s with velcro so they don't have to worry about the snaps. Lately, she's been going home in the same outfit so I assume they finally figured out the correct fit/setting for the CD. If you're not having leaks at home, then maybe they're not putting the CD right. Can you show them how to properly put it to avoid leaks (check that the legs gussets are not too loose or show them exactly where to snap the buttons).
If I remember right, you us Fuzzibunz, right? E had leaks on the few times that we have used it so it was more of a fit issue for us. I have stopped using them.
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it? n/a - can't even visualize that at this point!(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room? for the most part yes. but i didn't really ask him to do much, I was "in the zone" (8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big? we had a smallish family party at our house. lunch and cake for 25ish, it was lots of fun. Then for his actual bday we went to disneyland with our parents and siblings. It was so worth it. I know he won't remember it but we will remember how much fun WE had watching him. He danced all the time, squealed with laughter on the rides, and seemed in awe of the characters. Watching him clap and dance with pooh and tiger during his birthday "party" was a highlight.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Sick =/ Caught whatever B had but it didn't hit me as hard (no fever). He still has quite a cough and stuff just continuously coming out of his nose. He's figured out how to work the Roomba (he's soooo obsessed with it) and is now waving bye and hi consistently.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?1yr
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?Whole family sick. MH also caught it too...
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.)
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it?n/a
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room?Really good overall. I did get mad at him because the dr broke my water (and then I wasn't able to manage the pain as well) and he wasn't there because his mom came to visit and he had to go say hi to her =P but everything went super well aside from that bad timing (it was the only 5 min that he had left the room too and I had been doing really well managing the contractions before then).
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big?Something kinda medium (~50 ppl or less hopefully...)? I rented out a park nearby and we're doing a BBQ (although I'm doing a lot of planning around the food)...theme is blue/yellow/green with a touch of Winnie the Pooh.
Congrats!!! And welcome to the board!!!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?I'm feeling great. The longer sleeping is really helping me. I go back to work April 4th, so I'm starting to figure out my schedule for that. I'm excited to get that part of my life back, but sad to leave Kenley at daycare for most of the day.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?4 month appt. next month.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? We've been trying to get Kenley used to taking a bottle. Especially with daycare coming up, she has been very reluctant. Luckily, I finally found a bottle she will take willingly...Born Free. So my challenge has been partly solved for now.
(5) Did you do/are you planning on doing anything special to help your pets adapt to life with a baby? (Play crying baby noises, bringing home a blanket from the hospital with their scent on it, etc.) I was very worried about this because I have 2 very well cared for pups. We tried playing some crying noises, but once one of the pups realized it was coming from my iphone, she was unfazed. DH brought home a blanket of LO's home before we came home for good. But they really didn't calm down until the 3rd night. Now they come up and give her kisses every now and then, but mostly ignore her. I can tell my lab is sad that I don't pay much attention to him anymore.
(6) For those of you with two or more, how do you handle it?n/a
(7) How did/do you think your DH or significant other do/will do in the delivery room? I didn't think he would be as involved. He didn't think he would be that involved, but then he found himself so curious and adrenaline pumping, he was great.
(8) What did/will you do for LO's first birthday (for those who had it or are thinking about it already)? Something small/big?When we get there, I'm sure it will be something small and intimate. Our families are so far away, and Kenley's birthday is a couple weeks after Christmas.
(9) We're (yet again!) out of questions (but we can recycle some old ones...)! What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?hmmm, I'll be thinking of some!
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
