My toddler group is participating in the Woodinville parade this coming weekend and our theme for the school is "Locally Grown". I need some ideas on what and how to put that in action. All ideas welcome...bring it on!!
My siggy never works right! Our bug is almost 3 now!
Are the kids on the floats? I think it would be cute to put them in green clothes and flower headbands or hats on a float that is made to look like grass, or a pot, or a flower bed.
Or you could dress them like fruites and veggies
Raisins, carrots, grapes, ect...
Have fun!

Tulips are almost in season and local. You could have the kids make handprint tulips for the banner (I could not copy the image, it comes up with the search handprint tulip). They could draw tulips or flowers too to wear, decorate their wagons, etc.. You could ask them to wear tulip colors. There are probably tulip fingerplays if you need to stop and organize them while people are watching.
How about strawberries? Costumes could be made pretty easily and cheapily out of felt, and one of you could hold a sign up front that says something like "So-and-So Preschool's U-Pick Strawberry Patch" or something. A whole crowd of little kids in strawberry costumes would be adorable. Here's an example of a costume (although it looks a little watermelon-y to me, I think it needs a strawberry topper hat/headband):
