stims question. 1 dominate follie vs, more than one

My last round of stims for iui number 1 (fail) i did 75 ui of follistim for about 10 days. I ended up with only 1 dominate follie at 24x26. I cant help but think that have one follie significantly lowers your chances of a sucessfull iui. What was your med protocal? How do I tell the RE that I want to try for more follies. I know there is still a chance with 1 follie, but I do not think that i will do the next iui if there is only 1. We are all out of pocket, and I just would rather wait till we have a better chance.

please let me know what you think.

Re: stims question. 1 dominate follie vs, more than one

  • The goal with my RE during IUI cycles was to have one or two good big follies. Anything more than two follies = cancelled IUI or convert to IVF due to the risk of HOM. Sounds like your RE is doing the right thing to me.

  • You should discuss the number of developing follies with your RE. Unless you are AMA or otherwise have reason, most IUIs are done with 1-2 developing mature follicles.

I'm 36, and my RE wants to see 2-3.  I've seen them go ahead with as many as six, but I don't think that's smart.
