Babies: 6 - 9 Months

N(at all)BR: Show me your beads!

I will be travelling to NOLA for work, leaving this coming Sunday and returning Wednesday. I have never been and want to maximize the fun (the more fun, the less I will sit in my hotel room and cry from missing hubby and baby).

If you have been to or know the city, please share some NOLA secrets so I can plan out my trip!

I am from NOLA!!!  It is my favorite city ever!

You need to get a muffaletta from Central Grocery, eat at Mother's, have brunch at The Court of Two Sisters, have a hurricane from Pat O's, stop by Cafe Du Monde...

I could go on and on.

Walk around the Jackson Square area - the vibe the city has is like none other.  Shopping is amazing on Magazine and the homes are beautiful in the Garden District.

::Taking notes:: Why, thank you much kind NOLA native! This makes me very excited for my first trip.

Did you live there during Katrina?

  • I grew up 30 minutes away from New Orleans! Like LCB said, Court of Two Sister, Cafe du Monde, walk around Magazine Street (they have great shopping) and check out Jackson Square. Be prepared to eat a lot. Literally everywhere has amazing restuarants. I love my muffalettas from Cafe Maspero right on Decatur. You're gonna have a blast!

My entire family (extended and immediate) did - I was in college at the time so I wasn't in the city.  Most of my extended family moved because of the storm and my parents and siblings left in 2008.  So, I no longer have family in the city.

And, to add on to the lent comment - and seafood restaurant will be very crowded on Fridays since it is lent.

Small world, that's awesome. I was there until I was 18 and then moved to Hattiesburg to go to Southern Miss. Where I still am and work now.

  • I live here now and I agree with everything that LCB said. You should also head Uptown and have dinner at Jacques Imos. Try a watermelon mojito and the alligator cheesecake. Have fun!
