HCG level help?

Hello All,

I just wanna say thank you to all you wonderful ladies out there. You guys welcome in newbies with open arms and give great guidance. With that being said, i have a question - how long did it take to get all the HCG out of your system? i was pregnant with twins when we realized at 8 weeks 2 days the sacs were empty. My level one week prior to my D&C was at 82,000. I was just curious how long it took everyone else, because i'm hoping it won't take me that long. I immediately lost all pregnancy symptoms after the D&C. No more sickness, no more tender breasts, no more sense of smell, nothing. I'm hoping those all went away because i dropped alot of my HCG level.

I don't have any helpful insight really, but I had to schedule yet another doctor's appointment for this Thursday because at my appointment last week I still had a positive urine test. That appointment was over a week since my natural m/c. I'm not sure how long it will take for mine to be completely gone but I think it should be somewhat soon because I am feeling totally symptom free at this point. Good luck!

Sorry for your losses! Welcome to the board and I hope you find some comfort here. I can't help you on your question. My levels were never that high and I have never had them followed down.

As for your question, with both of my losses it took about a month for my levels to get back down. My first loss I had methotrexate and with me second I had a D&E and it took longer with the D&E for my levels to get back down. It is different for eveybody I think. I hope yours go back down quickly for you.

I wasn't followed by MD's but I had a - HPT 7 days after I stopped bleeding. The day I started bleeding/cramping and went to the ER my numbers were 238; 2 weeks prior they had been 16500. I hope this helps.

{{HUGS}} I'm so sorry for the loss your twins. I too had a D&C and lost all pregnancy symptoms soon after. I got a negative HPT two weeks after the surgery and my period 4 weeks (to the day) post surgery. I have no advice on HCG levels other than that, sorry.

Hi, Welcome to the board. I am sorry for your losses.

I am 5 weeks post d&c and today was hopefully my last blood draw. Last week my level was 5. I am anxiously awaiting AF.

I'm so sorry for your loss and you having to be here..

Mine was found after my numbers were already dropping (I assume because I was spotting/bleeding etc). My first beta at 5.5 weeks was 517, two days later it was 139. Two weeks after that it was 109, then 105... then FINALLY it started dropping more. The next week it was 46, then the next week my urine test was neg and I never went back. This was last week that the urine test was neg, so it's been a little over a month since the m/c. Good luck hun.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I can't remember all of my exact dates right now (I have it written down, but not with me), but I didn't get tested down to 0. I had my D&C on 1/26. Two weeks later at my follow up, I was still bleeding and still testing positive. After U/S, they decided to give me Cytotec to finish things up (2/9). Two weeks later EXACTLY, I started bleeding again (still testing positive on HPT). Went in for beta and U/S. Beta was 13. Dr. said it was AF. Kept testing positive on HPT for about another 5-7 days. Then, on 3/9 got a positive OPK. So, hang in there. Even if it takes awhile for the HCG to drop, you may still get back to a regular cycle pretty soon. I know that's what I was worried about. And, be aggressive with your dr about getting betas tested. Good luck!

I'm sorry for your loss. ((hugs)) I had an ectopic with two rounds of methotrexate, and seven weeks later I still have a level of 110, although AF arrived this week. It seems that the levels drop faster after a D&C or D&E, so it may not take as long for you. However, there is a very wide range of what's "normal," so don't worry if you don't line up with others' experiences. We have a group for ladies waiting for their HCG to drop on Thursday evenings.
