He was transfered to AI DuPont briefly in January for his PDA ligation surgery - and he may be discharged from AI after hernia surgery - but the bulk of the NICU stay has been Christiana.
No, we spent our 111 days @ Bryn Mawr. I did my residency at AI and spent A LOT of time in the NICU at Christiana. Some of my mentors are attendings there. You are in excellent hands if you did not already know. I really really really wanted to do a NICU fellowship there but had some scholarship obligations which prevented it, And AI rocks too!
Congrats on the light at the end of the tunnel!!!!! And hang in there. I found the last few weeks to be the hardest in some ways.
We really like everyone at Christiana - they are a pretty amazing team of doctors, nurses, therapists, etc. We even like the janitorial staff! I feel so bad for some of the women on here who don't have a good NICU experience. I like AI but feel a bit under the microscope there given that they have 1/5 the patients that Christiana has - too much attention makes me nervous.
Thanks! And I agree on the last few weeks being harder. I think the anticipation of having him so close to coming home is building and making the NICU experience a bit challenging now.
Let me know if you need anything esp once you are home. I am still pretty connected to AI. I even take the boys to an AI outpt practice since we are close to Wilmington....we live in Delco.
