DH and I are finally agreeing on first names. Yay! When I suggested Eleanor, he said he really liked it! Fantastic! Eleanor is such a classic name! Anyway... having a little trouble with a MN. Our last name starts with "G," ends with an "L" and is two syllables. It would end up being:
Eleanor ______ G__________l
Any suggestions would be great!! TIA!
Re: Need some MN help with Eleanor
Christine, Julia, Louisa, Marie/a
ETA: didn't see your one syllable response. Hmmm...maybe Ann or Rae? The one syllable names are harder! LOL
Are you looking for 1-syllable names? I know Rose is a common mn now, but it goes so well with traditional names like Eleanor!
Pearl
Hope
Faith
Jean
May/Mae
Anne
We're using Catherine as a mn for Elinor, but for one-syllable names, Jane and Kate/Cate are 2 that I like.

I'm also a fan of single-syllable MNs with longer FNs...here's a few that got tossed out when we were talking about using Eleanor as a FN:
Brooke
Wren
Sage (yes, we were looking at a nature-theme here...this was one of DH's suggestions)
Others that would go well:
Jane
Lynn
Mae/May
Kate/Cate
Ruth (DH's grandmother had this combination)
Leigh
Jean
Rose would fit, but it tends to be over-used as a MN because it fits so well with so many names.
If you're into "virtue" type names, Hope could make a nice(and less-easy-to-make-ironic) alternate to the over-used Grace...
I'm partial to Eve, but wouldn't use it in this case because I'm not a big fan of alliterative name combos.
Love the name Eleanor!
