Trying to Get Pregnant

Chemical Pregnancy? Anyone have any experiences with this?

Hi,

I finally got a positive test result on Friday, followed by an inconclusive blood test(pregnancy hormones were there but not very high) I unfortunately didnt get to talk to my doc before the end of the day Friday, but from what I read they would have had to keep checking on the levels. Well, I took 3 HPTs today, all negative and then the heavy bleeding and cramping began. It looks like its a chemical pregnancy, which my doctor thinks I may have also had the month before as I was late.

Does anyone have experiences with this? How long did you wait to try again? Did everything turn out okay? I was so excited to have my first glimpse of hope in this trying to conceive journey. I really never thought it would be this emotionally trying...I guess I'm naive.

  • CPs suck! I was told to wait one cycle and then we could try again.  Basically they say that if you were not trying to conceive so hard, you would never know you were pregnant, and the only way you knew was because you took a pg test (hence the the chemical part)

I am sorry you are going through this.  ((HUGS))

  • I don't have any experience with chemical pregnancies, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through this loss.  Don't feel like you're naive - I'm pretty positive we all hoped we'd get pregnant on Cycle 1 and didn't realize how hard this process would really be!

All of this. It can be shocking how hard and emotional TTC can be-- fingers crossed that everything works out and you are able to have a sticky pg and if not best of luck next cycle. And remember a loss is a loss regardless of how early on you found out-- dont feel as though you cant grieve for what could have been :-(

  • I'm SO sorry you went through this. CPs are very frustrating in their own way. Get a BFP and then its just....gone. You are by no means naieve! Its only natural to get excited! I hope you get some comfort here and you get your sticky baby soon! I wish you and YH the best!

This. What you're going through is so so hard but unfortunately not uncommon while TTC. My OB said to wait one month before trying again but I know the opinions can vary. Hang in there, it doesn't mean you won't go on to have a healthy baby at some point - hopefully very soon! Hugs to you.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. After my first a CP, my doctor said my cycle might be off but there was no reason not to try. I had another CP the next cycle and she said I should take a break to process everything emotionally. I think that there is no medical reason why you would need to take the cycle off but for some people, it's just difficult to start trying so soon after a loss.

  • I'm sorry for your loss, T & P are with you. I had a CP in December, but didn't know what it was until I read about it on here. I was too embarrassed to let my OB know because I was afraid they would think I was crazy. Since then, my cycles have been a little off and it's very frustrating. Now I'll be worrying about next time and all those negative thoughts. It's probably not the most helpful, but I do know what you could be thinking.
  • I have not had such a thing happen *knock on wood* however I did want to offer my prayers to you and your husband as you go through this difficult time.  I hope you recover both physically and mentally soon so you can continue your journey soon.  I pray that someday soon, you get the sticky baby you have been waiting for.

  • I had one a few cycles into TTC #1.  It sucked, but I tried not to let it get me down...I personally felt lucky that it was a c/p and didn't hang on for a few weeks- I can imagine that a early m/c is much harder to take.   We kept going and conceived Lily a few cycles later.

I did find that the c/p cycle my AF was extra heavy, but otherwise everything seemed normal.

  • I had a chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage (about 5 weeks).  My doc told me to wait one cycle, just to let the uterun lining build up to become thick and rich again, but every doctor will tell you something different I think depending on your circumstances... even though it is a CP it is still very emotional, I am sorry for your loss, and hope you get pregnant again soon!
  • I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.  I had a CP just last cycle and my doc said the I could keep trying, however they usually recommend waiting for one cycle.  And it of course, varies per doctor and on your specific situation.  I hope you get to talk with your doc today, and my T & P are with you!

  • I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I had a c/p in November. My Dr said it was ok to try again immediately and there was no reason to wait.

  • I'm so sorry - I had a CP in December and it's heart breaking.  A loss is a loss.  We didn't skip a month, but I've noticed my cycles since then are a little wonky.  :hugs:

  • Thank you all so much for your kind and encouraging words. My doctor is advising I wait 1 cycle and she'll have me come in for an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay, just to set my mind at ease and then we'll start trying again and hopefully we'll end up with a BFP that sticks.

I wish you all the best! Baby dust to everyone!
