3rd Trimester

light bleeding with mild contractions is fine, right?

Just wanted someone else's opinion on this, but i am having wicked cramps that feel like they are turning more into contractions about every 10 minutes or so. I am also getting some brownish red blood when I wipe. I am thinking I should just wait it out till they are more intense or closer together, and that the blood is not worth panicking over - correct? TIA

  • Sounds like bloody show. Keep timing the contractions! When in doubt, call your OB!

  • I had the same thing a week ago (I am almost 38 weeks- excuse the ticker). I went in and they said I was fine and only 1 cm dialated. I would still go in if I were you just because of the blood. How much blood do/ did you have? Enough to fill a pad or a few drops?
  • I think it sounds like tonight might be your night! I would get my things together if the contractions don't stop. My prenatal class told us it was time to head to the hospital when the contractions were 5 minutes apart. But maybe give your OB a heads up just in case! Good Luck!!

  • It sounds like bloody show, which is normal (and actually a good sign that labor is impending!).  My doctor says to go in when contractions are about 5-7 minutes apart, but I think doctors can vary on this... Good luck!!

  • I had a few drops with some cramping and slight contractions. When I got to the hospital the contractions stopped and sent home. Are your contractions 5 mins apart? Then again, I don't know how much blood to expect in order for it to be called "bloody show", so.......  Good luck!
  • that would be the bloody show of your cervix changing. Call you OB just to let thme know what is going on. I got this the day before I had DD.
