Our pedi said at his 6 month appt. to only give formula or BM for now. I am wondering if 9 months is okay for 2 oz. of juice and 2 oz of water. He goes on Tuesday but I bought some Mott's Tots and thought I would give a little bit to him tonight. What do you think?
Re: When did you start giving your LO juice and water?
I started putting water in a sippy cup when LO was about 6 months old and offered it at every meal. it took him awhile to get the hang of it, but now he drinks a couple oz per meal.
I haven't done juice at all yet and won't. I don't see a need, even for constipation b/c purreed prunes do the trick.

I started giving her water in a sippy at about 6 or 7 mo, I think. Mostly to practice drinking out of it. Now that she's gotten the hang of it, it's usually BM in her sippy (the rest she gets straight from the tap
I haven't ever given her juice. If she's constipated (which she's only been once) I give her pureed prunes, so I don't see a need for it.
I don't see why you can't if you want to. As long as it's not his main source of fluids, it's certainly not going to do any harm.
The part of fruit that is good for you is the fiber, the flesh of the fruit. In juice form, all of the good parts are removed and you are left with just the sugars. Even though they are natural sugars, they are still sugars. When I had GD I couldn't eat fruit let alone drink juice. Pureed fruit still has the fibers of the fruit, so it's different.
At 9 months it's fine to give water. DS probably gets a couple ounces throughout the day, mostly with solid meals.
There is no reason for juice at all, but it's technically safe at 9 months, yes....
Hmm, what about the Simply Apple Juice, if I remember correctly it has more sustance to it. I wonder if that would be a better juice for DS.

We also do the sippy cup of water, which he loves. We do juice occasionally, but he won't drink much. A little from time to time isn't bad imo. But if you want something besides milk, go for water more often!
