Do you feed your child seafood?

If so what kinds do you feed? What does your kid like? I dont eat any seafood at all but I want my son to eat it. I have no idea what to get or how to cook it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Do you feed your child seafood?

  • The only fish he has really had is fish sticks.  I did just buy salmon burgers and plan to try those sometime this week.  I don't cook at all and both of these things I bought pre-cooked from Whole Foods.

  • DS has had cod, tilapia, salmon, etc. He doesn't really care for it. He usually spits it out pretty quick.
  • We grill pre-marinated Tuna and Mahi-Mahi pretty regularly....DD loves it!

  • DS eats salmon for the omega-3 fat. I just bake it w/a little olive oil and some herbs.
  • DD has had tilapia, salmon and fish sticks.

  • she has fish sticks once a week and salmon whenever dh and i eat it.
  • I dont eat seafood at all either. However, we live in Baltimore so seafood is everywhere. Most of the seafood he has eaten has been in restaurants. I did make sure I only tried one at a time and kept track of what he ate and when he ate it,to make sure there was no allergies.
  • He's had salmon and any kind of white fish, he'll eat any of it, but he hasn't had fish sticks (more because we don't eat them often) and he hasn't had shellfish because of other allergies, we are waiting until he's 2

  • She loves any kind of whitefish.  We went on a cruise in February, and she tried tilapia, rockfish, mahi mahi and some other kind of fish. With it being Lent, she had some of my fish numerous times when we went out.

I had an adult onset of a shellfish allergy (all the good stuff- shrimp, crab, lobster, etc.) a few years ago, so she won't be trying shellfish any time soon.

  • Fish sticks, crab cakes, lobster, shrimp....the first two at home when I make them, the other two at restaurants.

  • Absolutely. Various types of fish, shrimp etc. She likes it sometimes and other times, not so much.

  • DD has had many of the things we have. Cooked only. We eat sushi so she has only what gets cooked. Salmon, crab, fishsticks, oysters, clam chowder, tuna (DD like tuna sandwiches.), shrimp, and a couple of others I am pretty sure.

Look for mild  and easy to fix. Sometimes having fish seasoned or marinated diff a child will eat it totally diff than plain! Good luck. Salmon and tuna are easy too.

  • I've been feeding DD salmon since she was about 10 months old. She really likes it. I bake it with a little glaze that 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 teaspoons honey, but I used to just give it to her plain (with a tiny bit of thyme sprinkled on top).

She also likes calamari, but I don't make that at home. She doesn't like scallops and she goes up and down with shrimp.

  • I don't eat seafood, but DH does.  We have feed it to Cedric as well too.  He loves the broiled flounder from Red Lobster!  He usually tastes whatever we have, so I know he has had more than that.  But now whenever we go to Red Lobster we get him his own kids meal of broiled fish:)

  • She has had all kinds.  We don't have a family history of seafood allergies so we started her right away at a year old.  She's had all kinds of fish, crab, clams, squid, shrimp and I made scallops again last night and she said, "MMmm!!  Mushrooms!" and ate more scallops than either DH or I!

  • DS has had whitefish such as cod and halibut. He also recently tried salmon and shrimp. He loves them all (especially the white fish, which i mix with various veggies and a cheese sauce). I only eat shrimp, so I wanted to ensure he would like more seafood than I do. Grilling is always a good option as the weather gets nicer.

  • we are a seafood eating family. She has had tilapia, whiting, salmon, shrimp, and crab....this is only the list at the top of my mind.

Fish is broiled, grilled or fried. I saute shrimp lightly...you don't have to cook any fish long in order for it to be safely cooked. I use Ole Bay's seasoning. Yum.

  • My DS looooves snow crab.
  • So far, only fish sticks.  We don't eat a lot of seafood, since I'm not really a fan of it.
