So... Adrian can undo the top buckle of his Graco MyRide 65 belt. It's so easy for me to close it that even he figured out how to undo it. So now what? The bottom one is OK (I break a nail to open that one) but most of the time he's riding with the top one open, not safe at all. He's still RF at least but we plan on switching the seat around this weekend, mostly b/c he'll put up less of a fight if he's FF. Not sure what to do about his new "habit" though.

Re: LO can unbuckle his car seat
Just found this on the web:
Install a seatbelt buckle cover, which is available online and some stores where baby items are sold. Seat buckle covers are difficult for children to unbuckle, but may also be difficult for adults to remove in an emergency. Therefore, consider using a seatbelt buckle cover as a last resort.
That's good to know, I'll have to check it out. Thanks
DOn't underestimate what he might understand- try telling him he can't undo it. Be a little dramatic about it, but give him a "no no no, we don't undo the buckle. Only mommy can do it. You can hurt yourself if you undo it. We need to let mommy do it.".
When DS started climbing out of the crib, this is basically what I said to him and he never did it again. He was a bit older, though, so who knows. But still.... from a pretty early age, I was amazed at what DS understood!

You might be right. For the past couple of days I've been closing the buckle immediately after he opens it (when the car is parked) and I noticed he's not opening it as much as before. Maybe he'd getting the point, like you said. I guess I just have to keep telling him no, and hopefully he'll lose interest in that darn thing.

I'll second PP about talking to him and teaching him not to. Both my older boys could get into and out of their car seats at this age, but I taught them not to unbuckle w/out permission. I read something once about a mom who had a kid who wouldn't comply and she made him the "Seatbelt Boss". All kids love to be the boss and it was his job to make sure EVERYONE had their seatbelts on. That solved their problem. I thought it was a pretty creative idea.
