LO HATES bath time. We get her undressed and start lowering into the tub and the screaming begins. Laying in the tub on the inclined mat, she screams the whole time. I keep telling DH I think the water isn't warm enough. Last bath we got it a little warmer and same issues. She just screams, cries, tears, etc. We try putting water over her to help keep her warm and it doesn't help. We try to play, talk to her, sit her up, etc, but nothing helps. She also hated sponge baths when she was a newborn.
I plan on getting a thermometer for the water to see if we can get the right temp, but other than that, what else could help?
Re: Anyone else's LO hate bath time?
Our thermometer says ideal and we still feel its a little chilly.. We started putting a wet washcloth on DS and he seemed to like that with bathtime. DD HATED baths until she could sit up and play in them. Try the washcloth and a thermometer and make it as warm as it will let you...
Run the shower in the room for a few minutes on REALLY hot before putting her in the tub...the steam will make the room warmer. Make the water hotter (almost as hot as if you were taking a bath, but not quite) - babies like much hotter water than we usually give them. Try taking a bath in the big tub with her (you or DH IN the tub holding her, the other parent washing)...have the water DEEP (up to her neck) so her whole body is underwater.
Those are some things that have helped us.
My DS seems to hate them more now than he did when he was younger... just these past two weeks he's been especially crabby during bath time even though I do all the tricks like warming up the bathroom and closely monitoring the water temperature.
He is normally very happy and playful but he hasn't figured out splashing in the water yet like the hospitals update flyer states he would be doing at this age.
