Two Under 2

anyone who has a city select stroller...

We now need a double stroller. I like the city select with the double attachment. The reason I was thinking this stroller is that it will work with our chicco car seat we already have, and I am liking how little it is as double and how you can set it up differently..

Moms who have this stroller...what do you love & hate about it.....

Re: anyone who has a city select stroller...

  • What I love:

It is an amazing single stroller.  The versatility can't be beat.  My only complaint is that the seat is a bit short.  We got it when my older daughter was 11 months old and her feet already hung well below the end of hte footrest (she's about 65th percentile for height).  Also, now, at nearly 18 months, when the sun canopy is out, if she's wearing her down parka with a hood, the top of the hood touches the canopy.  I'm worried she will be too tall for the seat before she outgrows the need for a stroller.

    What I don't love:

It's not as versatile as they describe.  When you put two kids in it, there is no way you can do all the different positions they describe.  I have found that having my older daughter in the front seat makes it significantly more difficult to steer, so she always sits in the back.  She also hates facing backward, which means she has to face forward.  When I had to recline my younger daughter (now 5 months), I had to face her backwards to do so.  I had to lower her footrest all the way, and raise the other footrest all the way, so that DD1's legs were stretched out in front of her perpendicular to the ground.  Otherwise she smushed the baby.  It wasn't very comfortable for either of them.

Now that the baby wants to sit up, I have them both facing forward.  But there isn't much room between the seats, so they both have to be in the upright most position.  If I try to recline either of them, DD1's knees get smushed up against the back of DD2's seat.  This could be solved by putting DD1 in the front, but again, that makes it much harder to steer.

Also I live in a city where I walk everywhere, and I need to be able to get the stroller up and down stairs.  It's so front-heavy even with the baby in the front seat that I'm terrified of handling stairs and am always worried I am going to fall over.  I have to navigate stairs every day.  If I didn't, this wouldn't be such a big deal.

As it is, though I am selling it and getting a P&T.

  • I love it.  My second boy isn't here yet, but the second seat is ;)

I love that a - it fits in my trunk, the only double to do so!.  b - Cole can still fully recline with the car seat in the stroller.  c - I can sell my other strollers, since I can use this as a single, double, or buy the board and make it a sit and stand.  It's an all in one. I love the brake is up at your hand, so you don't hit it accidentally!  I also love that the back wheels are removable, so if I need to pack my trunk full, I can break it down and have almost all of my trunk available.  The two seats facing forward stadium style - so no one is blocked, and that the infant seat can be closest to me and facing me.

I hate - the lack of cupholders.  And the baby jogger one is totally inaccessible with 2 seats.  I did just get one tonight from Bed bath and beyond that is a universal, that should work.   I hate that even though the basket is HUGE, it's hard to access it with the seats on it, you really have to dig.  Again, not such an issue now that I found an organizer, but definitely a negative.  I also don't like that while you can do a million positions - you can't do them in any seat slot.  For example, as a single, you can have him face you.  But, he has to be in the top seat slot if you want him to sit up because of the bar across the bottom, so he has to lay down.  But to me, more flexibilty than a regular stroller is good enough, it's just a pain before you figure it all out.

  • Love:

It can be a single or double so I never have to worry about what stroller to bring

    Basket is huge

As a single it's really easy to steer

It's a front/back so fits through all doors

I'll get more use out of it since DS won't be in a stroller much longer, I can just use it as a single

    Sunshades are big

    Folds small

    Don't Love:

It's heavy with a toddler on the front

The seat is shallow (though the 2011 model it's bigger)

The smaller wheels on the front aren't ideal for all terrain

No cupholder (I have since bought one)
