Baby Names

Need help with strong, classic boy name

Something not too common but would work for a baby as well as an adult.

I was thinking Ryan, Andrew, or Jude. I like Ethan and Jack, but they are way too popular in my area and I already know a Christian, Christopher, Michael and Joshua. Please help. I have only 4 more weeks to go. I had Owen in mind, but my DH is not a fan. My daughter's name is Olivia.

thanks

Re: Need help with strong, classic boy name

  • Personally I don't think that Ryan falls into that category - especially since some girls are named Ryan these days. From those you named, I really love Jude! Andrew is also a fantastic name and I really like the nn Drew.

Jude Andrew is a great combo. :)

I have a similar taste in mind and others I can suggest off the top of my head are Charles, George, Alistair, Grant and Graham.

  • Of Ryan, Andrew, or Jude, I'd put Andrew at the top of the list as far as strong boy names go. It actually means strong and manly. ;-)

  • Out of the 3 you listed, I like Andrew best. Other classic names I like are Benjamin (Ben), William, Scott, Henry, Alex.
  • I love jude
  • Jude is really getting popular, at least from what I've heard.

If this baby is a boy, his name will be Paul. It's classic and not heard much anymore. it's after my grandfather, but I love it anyways.

  • For strong, classic names, look through a list of Catholic Saints names.  You don't have to be Catholic, of course, but there are tons of names that are "normal", solid and classic and often underused.

Charles Henry is nice, but I'm biased!

  • I love the suggestions of Henry or Charles.  Both pair well with Olivia and while neither is exactly unpopular, they're not at the top of the charts, either.  I also like Alexander.

Of your choices, I like Andrew best.
