Infertility

I have a question

I posted the other day about starting IVF # 1  I was just curious about cost my insurance covers at 90% so I know that is good but what is normal cost or range?

Re: I have a question

  • I'm no help!  I'm currently waiting for my bill for the ER/ET and ICSI fertilization.  I am very, very fortunate to have good insurance coverage and I know for each monitoring appt (us/bloodwork) I paid 41.00.  Our insurance did not cover freezing our leftover embryos and that was 800.00/per year.

  • I am totally OOP, but the cost definitely ranges depending upon which RE you see. Mine was about $16,000 from start to finish.

You are VERY lucky insurance coverage. I say you should go for it. Good luck!

  • Mine will be about 12,000 with about 4,000 in meds.  I am just getting ready to start my first ivf.  I am completely OOP.  Hopefully I will end up being able to get some drugs donated.  With insurance they will have a contracted price with the RE.

  • I agree that it depends on your clinic. I'm completely OOP for IVF and we paid $8,900 for a comprehensive package which included "extras" like ICSI, assisted hatching (we didn't use this) and cryopreservation w/ 1 year storage. We paid $400 extra for anesthesia. My meds ended up costing around $2,500.  In total, our IVF cycle cost $11,800.

  • You are so lucky. Our clinic charges ~$10k for ivf$1500 ICsiMeds depend on protocol, but usually $3k per fresh cycle for me. If you get frozens, you pay extra for that $550 + $100 per quarter for storage. We did a guaranteed program for $17K.

  • Varies widely by location and clinic.

I'll write a check Monday for 11,500 which covers the doctor/hospital/lab fees. The first week of stims + after retrieval care (expecting to need to reorder more stims, but since we are oop they want to judge my response to stims before making us buy an extra 5 days) was 3200. Those fees include everything specifically related to the cycle. All the monitoring, ICSI, retrieval, transfer etc. They do NOT include any testing needed prior to IVF. In our case there was a saline ultrasound @300ish, and infectious disease panels for both of us @300$ each. That includes all appointments until the second positive beta. First 10 weeks of prenatal care (1 more beta, at least one ultrasound, more nurses at my beck and call for every needless worry) is an extra 1500.

Future fresh cycles at my clinic will be 5500 + Meds- the doctor's fee is waived for subsequent cycles if you're OOP. Which is quite nice.
