Any advice on how you carted the kids around at the grocery store? By the time my second DS is born in June, my first DS will be 20 months. I'm so nervous about how I'll handle this!!
I would love to see this answer. DD will be 14 months when the boy will be born. I have a moby and an eddie bauer carrier (wearable). I figured that is what I will have to do....strap him on.

A huge help was having a carrier. I could wear DS while DD sat in the cart. My biggest issue is getting them in the car. What I do is park away from most everyone else and next to a cart return and take the cart around to DD's side, put her in. Leave the cart behind the car, go put DS in, unload the cart and return it.
Honestly, though, I try to wait until DH is home or I go with my mom. It's SO much easier with two adults.
Mine are exactly 20 months, and my LO was born in June too. When he was really little, I would use the moby if he was cranky in the car seat, and put DD in the cart seat. If he was asleep in the infant carrier, I would put that in the large part on top of the cart, and DD would still fit in the seat portion (I had to put the car seat on one side of the cart). And sometimes if it wasn't a huge shop, I would use the double stroller and just stuff the groceries in the bottom.
Meijer Grocery Express! Shop online, drive to the store, they load all the groceries in your car, you pay at the window for $7 (or unlimited trips for $25 a month)!!! Worth every single penny:)
Thanks everyone!! It's ALL helpful info. I dread having to do everything with 2 in tow; especially if I'm alone. Sounds like things have a way of just working out. Thanks again!
Very practicle question. Our kids are 14 months apart--What we did was put DS in the seat and DD in her infant car seat sideways a thte front of the cart. Or DS would sit in the "grocery" part and we'd put DD infant car seat in the seat part. Once they are both old enough to sit upright most grocery stores have double seaters or one can just sit in the grocery part and the other in the seat. That's something I worried about too. If it's easier just have one stay home with DH while you shop.

I generally tried to go when DH was home to take care of them, but if I had to take them I would wear the little one, and put the older one in the shopping cart seat. If your store has those carts with the "car" on the front I could put the older one in the car, and leave the younger one in the infant seat.
Don't worry about it, you'll figure it out. What we typically do is have Daddy stay at home with my (2u2) boys while I go out grocery shopping or he'll come with. For
DS1 in the cart seat and DS2 in the cart area in his carseat. Then commence covering DS2 with groceries. Its almost comical. I put a lot of stuff under the cart and save the big stuff for solo trips. Big tip-take carseat out of cart before paying or you WILL steal stuff : )

ditto this...although I do prefer going after DH gets home from work and the kids are in bed - it is so much easier alone!
I also do Peapod.com - shop online and they deliver it all the next day

Older child in the front of the cart and baby in a carrier. Pretty much the only way to do it if you have a lot of groceries.
OR, get your DH to watch the kids and grocery shop at night.
OR, if you're in my neighborhood - ShopRite at Home services......best thing EVER!
