We currently have a glider (well, it's an espresso colored leather recliner/glider) in DD#1's room. We use it every evening to read books and rock before she goes to bed. We started when she was 6 months old after we established her bedtime routine.
Any suggestions on what to do for DD#2? Should we go ahead and get another recliner (it's on sale right now, very reasonably priced compared to a lot of gliders)? Or can we somehow improvise without a chair in her room?
We plan to put the chair in our basement family room if/when DD #1 outgrows it or she moves to a full-size bed and we don't have room for it anymore. We have room for a 2nd chair in our family room as well.
Re: Should we get a 2nd glider for DD#2?

Yes, get one. It's one of the things I saw debated over here all the time, and I just had to have another. Let me tell you, I have not regretted it one.single.bit. One of the few baby purchases we use every single night, and nap time for DS.
We have one in DD's room, and one in ours (where DS is).
Thanks ladies for weighing in! It's nice to hear what others have done! The good thing about buying two chairs is that we'll have matching chairs to put in our family room some day!
We don't have the space for 2 chairs outside of their rooms, so I posted on our neighborhood website asking if anyone had a glider they wanted to sell. Someone gave us one for free! It was actually nicer than the one we paid for!
But if you have a use for the chairs after they've outgrown sitting in them (perish the thought!), then seems like a worthwhile investment.
