Postpartum Depression

maybe get a new therapist?

Do I need a doctor instead of a counselor?  I've been seeing her since December.  I like her, but it's like I'm just there and we chit chat - almost like she's just one of my girlfriends.

While it's nice, I feel like I need to dig deeper and fix things instead of just talking about them.  I feel better in some aspects, but in others, I feel worse.  She listens to me a lot and I get out a lot of frustration, but is that all therapy is?  I thought I would be directed more and given coping mechanisms.  This does not seem to be the case :-(

Sigh  - i'm so sick of the tears and anger.

Re: maybe get a new therapist?

  • I would probably get a new therapist if you feel like what you are paying for isn't really helping. It's great y'all can get along and chit chat but that's not all therapy is about. You need to discuss more about coping mechanisms to learn how to maybe overcome depression instead of just the occasional talk to release frustration.

Hope you find somebody that works for you. It usually takes a few tries.
