Finished a Project / Advice

I ordered 180 pictures in January of my DD from birth (6/07) through the end of 2010 with a $20 Shutterfly gift card.  They have been sitting on the counter in their bright orange envelope since.  Well, while out at Marshall's today, I decided to pick up a photo album.  I just finished organizing them by dates and they are now in order in the photo book!  I feel so accomplished!!  Now I just need to keep up with it and not wait 3 1/2 years to do it for LO!   (And 180 photos is just a fraction of the photos we have of her, I just picked some of my favorites from each month.  We are well above 20,000 digital pictures!)

Advice for first time Moms, get a good camera with a fast shutter, and a back up drive to store all your photos on!image

Re: Finished a Project / Advice

  • Way to go! That is a huge accomplishment. I plan on putting together some nice albums for our children (even though #1 is still a bun in the oven). I want to make sure to stay on top of it because I know that if I don't I might not ever get to it!

  • I have a question that is probably a stupid one. How do you know if your camera has a fast shutter? What is fast?

  • I was good at scrapbooking DS first holidays.... until he started walking. That is where the scrapbook stops.

I think the best I can accomplish with all the other photos is to put the best on an SD card for our digital frame.

Poor LO... I can't imagine having the time/energy for scrapbook his first holidays! I think I will just do a digital scrapbook on kodak gallery or something. :(

I am amazed at your accomplishment! Go YOU!

I misspoke about it being the actual shutter, I do not know nearly as much as I would like to about cameras...To me, if I miss a face or a cute shot because my camera was too slow to take the picture or wasn't ready, I consider that too slow.

I really want a digital SLR, but money is tight. If you can afford a $300-800 camera - I would do it! I just want the camera to take the picture when I touch the button, and several in a row, not to have to wait for it to be ready.  I will have to learn a ton when I do get my dSLR, eventually!

  • That's something you will cherish forever. :D Good job, mama!
  • DH gave me a Nikon D80 for my birthday when we were dating, and I'm so thankful to have a nice camera to capture every second of LO's life.  Smile  I inherited my mother's obsession with picture-taking (she's a photographer); now I just need to find my inner scrapbooker!
