I went to my MW yesterday- I gained 6lbs last month! Whoops... She didn't seem concerned, up untiil that point I'd only gained 12. I'd been famished last week and gained 3 then alone, so the MW and I both think LO had a growth spurt. This week I think I'm back on the 1 a week track.
Anyway, since I'm comfortable talking about my weight, I thought I'd put it out there in case it makes anybody else feel better since 6 in one month was a bit fast, but the Dr is totally fine with it. Also, FWIW, I stared out in the healthy range, so my 'goal' is 25-35, at 25w I'm up 18.
Re: sharing about weight gain
I gained 9 last month -- who knows this month -- but that's literally when I went from no belly to huge baby belly so I know there was a lot of growing going on.
Someone had posted this awhile ago and I found it helpful.

I also gained 9lbs the last month! And 7 the month before that. I think it has a lot to do with my reduced activity due to the restrictions my chiropractor has given me. HOWEVER, I have a lot of friends who have gained slightly above the recommended amount and have had perfectly healthy babies AND who have gotten back to their pre-pregnancy weight.
One of my friends was even telling me about a girl we both went to high school with who gained 70 lbs!!! AND, she has a bikini body now. I think there's an average, and certainly it's NOT healthy for everyone to gain so much much, but we're all going to vary. As long as we stay healthy and the baby is healthy.
I have a friend that gained 55 with each of her two pregnancies and was back to her bikini body within 3 or 4 months both times, so I totally agree that your body does what it needs to do. A woman I worked with gained 70 (carrying twins) and lost 40 before she left the hosptial- incredible shrinking woman!
So far my doctor seems happy with my weight gain which makes me happy. I was really concerned at first because for the last year and a half I've been working really hard to lose weight so once I stopped exercising as hard (or at all first tri) I was terrified of what the result would be.
So far I have only gained 8 pounds (although first weigh in was at 8 week so I'm not really sure how much weight I gained then, I'm guessing 3 pounds maybe), but I also feel like I'm just now hitting the growth spurt so we'll see what the next few months bring. I am also starving now so I am eating constantly, but at least the weather is nicer so that I can get outside and walk a bit.

Whoa... that's amazing.
She was in for a while (pre-e promted an early c-section), and it was mostly water weight, but yes, amazing.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

I am a plus-size Mama, and my doc told me to gain between 10-15lbs. She never gave me a "max", but said that 10-15lbs was her recommendation, as long as the baby continued to grow well.
I've been eating tons of junk food lately though....Should probably tone that down a bit!
