I was just too nauseous to do anything the last 6+ weeks. But I've started up with my trainer once a week (wish I could afford more but have to save for baby) and want to also get back to spinning once or maybe twice a week. I'm a little worried about how toasty in gets in spin class. I did buy a heart rate monitor so I could try to keep my pace a bit better (not stay in a particular zone per se).
I did lots of spinning pre-preg so I think it is relatively safe to continue as long as I listen to my body. I assume others on here are still spinning or going back after being sick or such during first tri.
Re: Want to go back to spinning after a first tri break
Go back as soon as you can. Drink lots of water, and if there is a fan in the room, try to score a spot near it. If you feel lightheaded or nauseated, stop for a while. Keep yourself at a level you can talk if you need to.
You'll know if it's too much - trust your body and listen to it.

I was on pelvic rest first tri and returned to spin second tri and it's been fine. Definitely wear your HR monitor because it's easy to get caught up in the music and take it too hard.
I usually grab a spot by the fan and it works fine.
One more thing, you might want to have a Luna Bar Mini or a banana before class, so you don't get dizzy.
i actually did the same thing with LO #1- i have always been an avid spinner but stopped my 1st tri b/c had a miscarrage and was just worried. anyways i went back in 2nd tri with no issues, just take it easy at first so you are not too sore and wear a heart monitor, you can get for less than $50 at any sporting store but you really should wear one b.c your heartrate can and should get high while spinning. i was able to stick with it until 8 months and that was only b/c i had to pee all the time!!

Thanks all. I did ask my doc and and the nurse wrote back to say it is OK but only if my HR doesn't go higher than 140 which even if I'm taking it slow that seems really low. I want to follow my docs advice but it seems outdated. I guess I could take the class, strap on the HR monitor and see what a low level is. And take all the other advice about extra water, a snack, and sitting near the fan.
I'd be more worried if I was starting to spin from scratch but I'm not. I've just been on a short hiatus.
I did spinning once or twice a week all through my first tri, I just keep it low intensity.
However, I just got back from a class and wanted to jump right on this board to see if anyone else has had weird pulling feelings during spin class. I'm 18 weeks. It's hard to explain, but in class today if I was in any sort of leaning forward position, I felt some pressure in my uterus on whatever side leg was up...it that makes any sense. I was fine when I was sitting up straight, and the hill intensity didn't affect it. It didn't hurt but it felt strange and so I spent most of the class sitting up straight.
Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience...I'll probably avoid class til my next doctors appt.
