I was going with stroller and infant carrier. Now I'm thinking about just doing the infant carrier with snap and go and using a totally different light weight stroller for when she's out of the carrier.
I think the frame would just be soo much easier when using an infant carrier too. Anyone else going this route? It doesn't look as nice but I think it's so practical as far as ease of use. Still has a parent drink holder etc as well as a basket for stuff. Is there actually any disadvantages to a snap and go?
Re: Think I want to use a snap and go...
This is what we did with Jackson - the Snap N Go is so light weight and less bulky than a travel system stroller.
Either way, I think you'd end up getting an umbrella stroller for trips to the mall, zoo, or other places you'd go once she's older so why not save a little money and just get the Snap N Go for now?

The disadvantage to me was the cost having to buy another stroller later. We got the Chicco system and the stroller portion is $120. Subtract the $70 for a snap n go, and we'd be trying to find a full sized stroller for $50 or less. I know we wouldn't be able to find anything except a small umbrella stroller for that price, so the system saved us money.
It does weigh 25 lbs, and the snap n go weighs half of that (12 lbs). So I can see that advantage. But I could lift the 25 lb cortina just fine, even 5 months pregnant when we picked it out.
I can totally see why people buy & love the snap n go's, but it wasn't worth the extra $ for us when the baby will probably only be in it for a couple of months.
I'm a little confused. What I am wanting to do is get the infant carrier and snap and go. Then when she is no longer using the carrier use a different stroller. Of course I would get a comfy one. I just don't see why it would need to match the infant carrier if we aren't using them together anyways since we will use the snap and go. Maybe I'm reading wrong? lol.
I tend to find the travel system ones to be bulky and have found a stroller (not to be used with infant carrier) that is really nice and light weight with all the features we want.

I was in this boat too. Until I found the Jeep snap and go for $50 on Amazon. The stroller for later is this one. It's pretty popular on Amazon. I love that it's light weight and compact but with good features. Our travel system stroller (Graco) was going to be like $90. With these two only being $105 together it's only costing $15 more and both are less bulkier/lighter than the travel system stroller. I just see unloading the big stroller getting old fast.

Those are great prices! Our friend just bought a Kolcraft Contours double stroller and she really seems to like it. For $15 difference, I would definitely just get what you want!
glad to hear your friend likes it. The reviews all seem good. The compaints being height for some but we are both only 5'6 as well as the snack tray being higher but I figure baby can reach. lol

Honestly, looking at the stroller you want to purchase for "later" if you recline it all the way, you might just be able to put the infant seat in it, and skip the snap n go all together. Just because the seat isn't made for an infant carrier doesn't mean you can't put it in there. My mom hated my travel system and bought her own stroller when I had my first DS, she just reclined the seat and put the infant carrier right int, he was just fine. I'm usually on the travel system band wagon simply because the stroller and car seat together usually saves money, since most people buy a stroller later, but when you can find a great deal I say go for it!
We were going to go for the travel system but then i went back to the store after hearing how bulky it was and how it just gets old after a couple weeks of having it.... I strolled around BRU with it and there was no ease with it especially closing it and lifting it in the car (i pretended a shelf was a car, haha)
After that we went with the snap and go and i got a jogger stroller for when i walk with the dogs... in the end it does cost a bit more but that is what your registry is for and i find it to be much easier then the travel system.... but its all what works best for you and your lifestyle!
The reasons why I did not consider a snap n' go were that:
1. Extra thing to store, since you only use it with the infant carrier. We're planning on having more than one kid, so we would need to in essence, store two strollers instead of just one. We're getting the City Mini, so all we need to store is the attachment bar for the carrier.
2. I have heard that they don't manuver great and less stable. As a new parent, having no clue what I am doing, something that doesn't manuver well and is awkward is going to be difficult, especially with a baby.
3. We didn't go with a travel system (too bulky) and our stroller of preference has an attachment bar, so we get the stroller that we want with the snap n go like property with the addition of the attachment bar.
4. We're also hoping to baby carry primarily, so though we'll need a stroller, we didn't see using it a ton.
They maneuver just like a travel system stroller would & they aren't awkward at all.

I wanted a snap and go and a separate stroller but I wanted a stroller that faced front or back. I saw the stroller Sazhara got and fell in love! The seat comes off so you can use it as a snap and go or put the seat on and it's like a regular stroller.
The first years wave
I found it on e-bay new for less than it is on Amazon.
We got the infant seat and a Snap N Go and then we will use a City Mini when baby is too big for the Snap N Go. The Snap N Go was $50 and the Chicco car seat was $150 on Amazon.
We thought the travel systems were way too bulky and the quality is not as good as if you spend a little more to get a standalone stroller later on.
I've been thinking of doing exactly this because I also have the City Mini! The car seat adapter is going to cost $50 something anyway.
