Annoying stranger comments

Post yours here!

Yesterday we went to Ag day.  The lady throws a "I love Beef" sticker on Dylan (which is 1/2 the size of her chest) and says "I bet it'll be your favorite food."

I respond with, "No, actually she doesn't like the texture of ground beef."

Her, "Well, she's a bit young, what is she 8 months?"

Me:  "No ten."  .....  walked away.  Irks me because she's been on table food for 2.5 months.  Yes, she is little.

Today at Walmart, Dylan is getting fussy when we checked out and a worker walks by and talks to her which she smiles.  I said, "I am thinkful for you because she's had enough."

Walks by again and talks to Dylan and turns to me and says, "She's tired you know."  Yeah thanks.  I know my own kid.  When else am I supposed to get my shopping done?

So...  I bet there are some way more annoying out there!  Post 'em here!

Re: Annoying stranger comments

  • The most annoying thing that ever happened to me was when I was pregnant with DS#1. I went to dinner with my best friend to tell her about my pregnancy and obviously we were getting emotional (happy).

An older man was listening in and brought me his church's business card telling me there were "options" for my baby and he deserved two parents. I am a married mother so I don't know where he was getting that from (although I have been told I look really young) or how it was his business. My friend went off on him a little bit.

  • It's not so much the comments for me as it is when people get too close...  like I don't mind if we're in a checkout line, etc. and someone says she's cute, but I can't stand it when people get all up in our space, it creeps me out and I find I'm always in 'watchdog' mode when we're in a public place.  Sometimes I find if you're too friendly back to a stranger they don't get the hint that it's time to move on.  lol.

  • I have people all the time come up to me and say "that is a fat baby"! I would be fine with chunky, plump, healthy, even big.... but just plain fat irks me to death. Yes he is a big boy, but a perfectly healthy big boy!!

  • A while back an old lady at BRU told me that I didn't have Jade dressed warmly enough. Which was completely ridiculous... she was dressed warmly enough and I really don't see how it was that lady's business to begin with.

I also had a lady tell me that Jade was going to choke on my shopping list because she had a little itty piece of paper in her mouth. Uh yeah...

I know exactly what you mean. We were at dinner last night and an older lady came by, literally sat down at our table, and started playing with DS and saying how cute he was. She was harmless but it still weirded me out a little.

  • I liked the woman at the grocery store who told me that my kids were good and didn't I "hate it when kids act up in the grocery store?"  Really?  2 seconds later they were both yelling.  Oh, and then she told me the soy milk I was buying for DS (he is 2 and allergic to milk) is poison.  She was great.  She actually then went on a rant about Walmart and it being dirty and having loud kids, but I kind of walked away.

  • I go to the bank about three times a week and there was this one teller who would always say "Are you smuggling a basketball under your shirt?" and cackle when I was pregnant. Every. Single. Time. from 8 months on. Ironically, DS loves to play with his little basketball, so I smuggled it under his shirt one day and took a picture!

  • I took DS to Target when he was 3-4 weeks old b/c I had to do some shopping. The check-out lady asked how old he was. When I told her, she said, "what is he doing out? he should be at home resting". I wanted to tell her to STFU and it was none of her business.

There is a mom in the parenting class we take that always comments on how big DS's head is. Yes, he has a big head (high 90th percentile), but I don't get why she always has to comment on it every.single.class. I never even mentioned that it's on the larger side...it must look unproportional to her or something.
