The one grown woman I know with this name absolutely HATES her name. She literally says her name, then when people "try" to pronounce she just says "do you have paper and a pen so i can write it out? No one can ever pronounce it, I hate my name".
All the spellings are derived from the Welsh princess, but different meanings are listed for different spelling. The "wyn" ending is masculine in Welsh. Bronwen is listed as "White Breast" and Branwen is listed as "White Raven"

I voted for Branwen, but Bronwyn would have been a second choice for me.
I love, love, love, love, love this name! DH looked at me like I was insane when I suggested it though.
I adore this name. I used to dance with a girl named Branwen.
My DD is named Branwen.
