Re: Branwen/Bronwen/Bronwyn?

  • I voted for Bronwyn.  Bronwen would have been second. The "Bran" spelling makes me think of Brawny paper towels. Good luck deciding!

  • I've only ever seen it spelled Bronwyn (I think the Br'a'n spelling would give a different pronc) and I love love love this name!!!

  • I voted for Branwen, but Bronwyn would have been a second choice for me.

I love, love, love, love, love this name!  DH looked at me like I was insane when I suggested it though.

  • I love it spelled Bronwyn. I have {2} Bronwyn's in my life. One an adult and one a 3 year old.
  • The one grown woman I know with this name absolutely HATES her name.  She literally says her name, then when people "try" to pronounce she just says "do you have paper and a pen so i can write it out?  No one can ever pronounce it, I hate my name".

  • Love the name! I definately say "Bronwyn" though. Bronwen would be my second pick.

  • My DD is named Branwen.

All the spellings are derived from the Welsh princess, but different meanings are listed for different spelling. The "wyn" ending is masculine in Welsh. Bronwen is listed as "White Breast" and Branwen is listed as "White Raven"
