Cute Maternity Dresses?

Hey ladies!  I have a wedding at the end of May, and yes I am already stressing about what to wear!

I have literally been looking on and off for months!  Maybe I am being picky- I would prefer no knits (too casual looking), no sparkles (too dressy!), and I really would like to spend less than $100.  Also don't want a bow on my belly or something...

I am sure others have weddings/ special occasions/ showers they are dressing up for- suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Cute Maternity Dresses?

  • I saw this at motherhood maternity the other day and thought it was cute. I don't know if it's too casual for what you are wanting though.

  • I'd look at Pea in a Pod.  Some of their stuff is pretty pricy, but they don't have bad sales.  As far as stylish maternity clothing I think they're about as good as you can get.

  • Not quite as fancy as a wedding, but I've bought 4 dresses for our trip to St. Thomas (nice dinner dresses) in April on ebay.   Found my shower dress on there too.

  • I'm not a fan of maternity clothes, so I usually find dresses with accommodating cuts. I love this one:

  • Try the online Nordstrom maternity dept. I got a bridesmaid~ish dress there that I'm wearing in May. Everything was on sale and I paid about $70 for the dress. They have a great return/exchange policy too. Good luck! :)

PS-I am in the Metro Detroit area too! :)

Oh, I know it! I'm like you though, and not a big fan of maternity clothes. I would rather find "regular" clothes with a shape that accommodates a growing belly that I can wear again after pregnancy. I think dresses are one of the easiest pieces to fit the bill. If I had a wedding or a special occasion though, I might make the splurge on one of these!

Oh yes. Totally eating my words here! We have a wedding in June, aka very pregnant at 36w, and I'm in the process of talking DH into this one:

  • I have had great luck with cute dresses at Nordstrom Rack.  They arent really maternity dresses but they totally work, because they are empire waist and super comfy. The brand I always have luck with is: MaxStudio.  Best part is that they are usually around 30-40bucks and you can wear them after pregnancy too!

Love that one! You might be able to hold off, and order it once the spring stuff goes on clearance? All their winter stuff got marked down super low--lots of dresses around $20-30.

I was TOTALLY eyeing that one myself - it's SO cute! Unfortunately, we don't have any weddings or anything to go to while I'm pregnant. I'm currently in the market for shower dresses for both my showers, and I think that one is just a little too dressy. <sigh>  I hope you get it - it's perfect for a wedding!

LOL!  I read part of the responses- went to ASOS and put THAT dress in my cart (in 2 sizes- gotta measure the girls...), came back to look for more suggestions and then I see this picture! I was like seriously?!

I really thought I would be able to wear some of my summer dresses but when the girls went from at 32B to a 34D- um in the words of Michael Kors "slutty, slutty, slutty!" (I'm a huge project runway fan Smile)!

Plus I feel like I am "all bump" already and I am afraid by the end of May they'll be down right vulgar! Eek!

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!

Great to know! Maybe I shouldn't have PIP'd it so that I will still have a chance to get it on clearance lol.

So funny that we're all digging this one ladies!

DH is in the wedding, so he'll be wearing a tux, so I kind of want to go a little more formal than I normally do.

  • I'm joining the Asos band wagon.  What cute stuff.  Do you guys think the maternity dresses could be worn post baby?  There's two that I love, one is the one that's been posted, but would love to be able to wear them even when not pregnant.

I was thinking/wondering the same thing. I know a couple of the dresses I got from old navy (on super clearance) when I put them on, I can't really tell they are maternity. Usually, they are just a touch longer in the front than in the back. My thought is, if it's really noticable, you could just lop an inch off the front (post-maternity) make a new hem, and wear it without looking like it's maternity. Depending on the cut of the dress of course. I think this would work on the black one PIP'd here.

I bought 2 dresses from https://www.babiesnbellies.com/ both for weddings. One I loved, the other was a bit small (it's for a May wedding also), but their returns department was easy to work with. The only warning I have is that you can only return for store credit.
