Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Is it safe to give a baby soda in their bottle?

THIS is the type of hilarity being asked on The Bump iPhone App. Highly recommended as a source of pure WTH-Entertainment. Just thought I'd share!

Re: Is it safe to give a baby soda in their bottle?

  • I was hopping on the thread to let you know this is ABSOLUTELY OK, as long as it's fruit flavored soda. Are you implying it's not?

As long as it is cherry coke it counts as a fruit serving for the day right???

Funny though, I remember my mom giving my brother pepsi with his medicine mixed in it when he was sick. He was walking around, so probably 1 or 2. Of course I also remember glass medicine bottles and hot toddys to cure a cough.

I just can't believe you'd give your baby Rockstar. You should be banished from motherhood FOREVER! Orange soda= delicious and healthy. Rockstar=baby poison.

  • Our Pedi said only orange soda... in fact she recommended it every day.  To get plenty of vitamin C, of course!Wink

  • Sadly enough, I've actually witnessed a mom fill her baby's bottle (8oz) with orange soda at McDonalds.  The kid was maybe 9-12mo old.  I couldn't believe my eyes, and I'm pretty sure my jaw was gaping open.

I like to get him all amped up before he rocks out at daycare.  Will use coffee in a pinch.

    OK, on the Rockstar bandwagon.

  • Just a few minutes later someone asked if it was safe to leave their baby asleep in their bassinet while they walked their dog in the park! I thought that it must be someone playing stupid to just eff with everyone but it was two different people. I'm scared for those kids.

Once again- that's not OK? I mean, how else am I supposed to give my dog the excercise he deserves? Some people don't care enough about their dogs (cough, cough, lboers).

Does Marissa like Monster?  Aaden doesn't but he'll get down with a Red Bull from time to time

Nope, we're a full throttle family all the way!  Seriously though, if you've never tried one...you need to, it's the only energy drink I can tolerate.

Marissa likes a splash of Captain in her Throttle from time to time, it helps with teething.

    Aaden's a whiskey man himself.

But no, I've never tried Full Throttle.  I'm not a huge fan of energy drink, I get all antsy in my pantsy after two cups of coffee.  I'd probably be bouncing off the walls if I drank energy drinks

There was an ad in the 50's for 7up reccomending you mix your baby's milk with 7up. It was the 'healthy choice' LOL!!

And, of course soda is good for babies. Mix it with orange juice. Just don't add the vodka until they turn two.

  • My aunt actually looked at me with an extremely dissappointed face when I said DD wasn't going to be having soda anytime soon, if at all.  She knows it rots little kids teeth like battery acid, she was upset when her neighbors little girl had black teeth.  She was 2 and her mom gave her pop all the time.

    Vitamin C? lol.

I wouldn't be able to help my staring if I were there. I'd be poking my husband going "Look! LOOK!"

Common sense is not so common.
