Question for those with babies head down

This may be a dumb question, but since some of you know your babies are head down, where are you feeling kicks now?  I can't figure out what this little boy's position is, but I'm pretty sure he's not head down.  I have been feeling the bigger movements only on my right side, which I think are his legs, and then smaller movements all over my belly, but mostly on the left.  I've never had any kicks even close to my ribs.  Maybe it doesn't necessarily mean he's still transverse, but I have a hunch he is.  Any thoughts?

Re: Question for those with babies head down

  • I feel LO's feet on my upper left side (right under my left breast most of the time) and sometimes I feel her butt in my solar plexus.  I can often even see her feet in my ribs.  My midwife felt her head right where it should be down in my pelvis, though I often feel pressure on my lower right side - maybe her shoulder?

  • I feel his *butt*? like right under my belly button most of the time..and i haven't felt kicks or jabs anywhere near my ribs either..co-workers have tried to feel and tell me if he is head down but they can't tell either..this isn't helpful..but I'm in the same boat!

  • My LO is head down and her back is toward my right side.  I am feeling her kicking above my belly button and across towards the left of my stomach.  I can also feel her wiggling down by my pelvis.

  • I was very confused about this as well!  We had an ultrasound Tues, and baby is head down.  He has his legs off to my right side, so I feel all the big kicks on my far right side, and i don't feel anything on the far left side.  I can also feel movement down low when he twists and moves his arms.  I only feel kicks to my right side ribs where his legs are.

  • My LO was transverse for some time, but now she is head down.  I don't feel any kicks in my ribs because she is so tall now.  I mostly feel kicks on my left side and punches down and on my left side.  Eventhough her head is down, her spine comes up my right side and her butt is right under my ribs.

  • I don't really feel "kicks" anymore, just huge rolls.  I can see his butt going from one side of my stomach to the other.  My most helpful hint is that his hiccups are always very low now, and I feel a lot of weight on my pelvic bones.

  • I am amused with myself.  Re-reading my post, (not that this really matters) but I completely switched right and left!  She is hanging out on my right side, kicking on my right ribs, and the pressure I feel down below is on the left side.  Supposedly her back is in my right side.

  • I think you are right about yours being transverse. DD has most of her little wiggles super low (and i know she likes her hands right by her face) and by my ribcage. If you're primarily feeling movement on your sides, odds are good the baby is transverse.
  • My LO is head down in the pelvis, spine curling up my left side, butt on left side of ribs and feet/hands on right side of ribs.  We saw him like this yesterday during the u/s, and it makes sense - he's been kicking/punching the crap out of the right side of my ribs for over a week.

  • I feel most of the movement at the top of my belly and on the left side of my belly.  At the last u/s it showed his back is kind of towards the right side of my belly, so I feel most movement on the left.  I feel smaller movements at the bottom (his arms I assume) but the strongest are at the top.

  • Most big movements are right at or above my belly button - I am tall though and baby is very low (and definitely head down).  Remember they are curled in there and not straight out.  I have felt very few big movements in my ribs.  Lots of little movements (head and hands) very low.
  • I usually only feel movement on either side, and never really close to my ribs either, but my LO's head down.
  • LO is head down for me and I can feel feet "under" my ribs sometimes, but most 'big' kicks (meaning that I SEE them!!) are to my far right side... almost to my back, which I think is weird.  I feel hiccups way down low and to my left side most of the time...

  • Both my girls have been head down for weeks.  I feel most movements on the right side of my belly, below my breast, and low low low.  I still feel a LOT of movement in all directions ;)

  • he just pushes mostly now. i feel it on both side, i'm assuming he can still switch sides. I feel his butt all the time, i love it.  I love the thought of me being able to pat his butt.

  • Baby kicks in my right hand ribs and out the right side of my body... butt/back are up in left hand ribs and I sometimes feel arms quite low and centered in my belly - below (what used to be!!) my belly button.

  • My LO is head down and I feel most of her big movements at my bellybutton and on the right side.  She is pretty low now, but I really only felt a couple of kicks to my ribs the whole pregnancy.

  • op, what you describe is what i felt like when she was breech.  she just turned this past week, and now i'm getting the uncomfortable high feet kicks at the top of my belly.

  • LO is head down and sort of folded like an upside down "V".  One side of the V is his head & chest and the top/other side is his butt & legs.  I have never gotten any kicks to the ribs as he has always been low and, I suppose, mostly folded.  I always feel his hiccups low on one side and his kicks fairly low on the other side.  Sometimes he pivots and his feet swap sides but he seems to stay head down either way.

I get a lot of movement from his butt and back and can sometimes see him practice breathing if he gets his back right up against the top of my stomach.

  • I've been having kicks/being kneed near my left ribs.  Sometimes it switches to the right side, I'm assuming when the baby rolls over and faces the opposite direction.

  • This kid was transverse until about a week ago. I started feeling cramps down in my pelvis and lo and behold, he had switched to head down.

His butt is right in the center of my belly, about an inch or two above my belly button.  He moves his butt from side to side, but mostly, he is keeping it in the center with his back coming up my right side and his feet kicking me on the left side. He has never kicked my ribs. I think he might be too short.

  • LO is head down, facing my left, with his butt wedged in my right ribcage, just as often as he can get away with it...lol. I feel big kicks/movements on my far left side, but not very high, about belly button height. If I feel movement higher in the ribcage on that side, its normally pushes and stretches, rather than kicks. I feel flutters/punches down low, also on the left side; he especially loves to use my bladder as a punching bag.

  • I feel no kicks anymore. Baby is head-down and facing my back. I feel feet in my ribs/top ute and the butt above my belly button on the left and sometimes on the right. I can feel baby stretch and hit me top ute and hip. Good times!

  • My LO has been head down for weeks (confirmed by dr) and I have been feeling her kicks primarily on my right side near my ribs but really both sides of my belly have been getting the action. I feel her hiccups very low down as well.

This is basically where my boy is.  I had a scan today and his head is down (face to the left, I guess).  His butt is pushing out my right side and leg is kicking to the left, trying to make some more room in there.

  • I was saying for weeks that it felt like both feet were lodged in my left ribs - and sure enough, we saw them in an u/s a week or so ago. I'm getting strong nudges in the upper left and middle of my torso, and then headbutting to the cervix.

She's still pretty active, even if she is running out of room.

  • He's definitely head-down now, but most of the movement I feel is up in my ribs or further out to the side.  So either I have a short torso (highly likely, as my bump starts pretty much where my boobs leave off, and they're not big), or he's a ridiculously long child -- you can watch his butt rolling around above my belly button on my right side and his feet beating the crap out of me on the other.  I feel a lot of pressure down low as well when he tries to stretch it out.
