I've always had issues with my knees. Every so often they will flare up and I can feel fluid around the knee cap. I've been to the Dr. about it over a year ago and he basically said that the tendons were weak and I needed to build up the muscle around my knee to help support it. Well, I did physical therapy but pretty much stopped after I got pregnant. Anywho, since starting 30DS, my left knee is really bothering me. I've kept on with the exercise because I've been doing so well with losing weight and all but yesterday it seemed to be worse so I didn't exercise. Part of me hopes that the exercise will do some good in helping to build up those muscles the Dr was talking about but, at the same time, I wonder if I'm doing more damage than good.
I know you all are not doctors. I just really wondered if 30DS had bothered anyone else's knees? Are you sticking with it?
Re: Any Shredders with knee problems?
I have old knee and back injures and I have been sticking with it. I did however talk to my doctor about it when it started getting worse. In my case it was temporary until I got my fitness level back up a bit. I haven't had to get any fluid taken out. I do still have some but not enough for it to be an issue. You may want to just do some of the moves modified for now.
I would suggest talking to you doctor about it first before continuing.

I've never done the 30DS but I have a long, long history of knee problems. I play ball every summer and I often find myself taking an Advil or an Aleve before a ball game, which helps prevent fluid build up/swelling.
You can work on doing squats and lunges to strengthen your quads to help with the pain and swelling. If those are painful and you have access to a gym, try the leg press machine and load up the weights.
you are wearing a brace when you exercise right? just to give it that extra support. i have 1 bad knee and since starting C25K - it has improved a lot. though i always wear my brace.
See, I am definitely not pro-brace if it is not needed (meaning a dr or therapist hasn't told you to wear it). I guess it would depend on the type of brace and the amount of support it provides. However, by wearing one, your joint will get used to having it there and it will eventually become a crutch in some ways. Should you not wear it one day and participate in physical activity, you may be more prone to injury and/or pain.
