Grunting and Gas-6 week old - Started being fussier...

DD is 6 weeks old: (Breastfed)
Grunts during day- pulls up legs like trying to poop (has been doing for weeks)
Worst is at nite when she is grunting for long periods of time and I can hear her in the room next door and can?t sleep. She doesn?t cry, she just grunts and grunts and grunts. She is loud.
Farts a lot.
(has been doing for weeks?some nights she does a lot, some nights-hardly at all)
-What can I do? I need sleep. I eat quite bland, have taken out pretty much all dairy and citrus. I am frazzled today.

She has also started being fussier in general these last couple days....is that normal for a 6 week old, I have heard it is.

Can't help you with the gas part, but the fussy is normal for a 6-week old.  We noticed DS was at his most fussy between weeks 6 and 8.

  • Fussy is very normal at 6 weeks. It's not only a growth spurt, but it's also when a lot of babies start to smile and their brains go through some kind of transition (can't explain really, but read it in a book recently). So that's completely normal. Also, DS grunts all the time in his sleep too. Also normal. Sounds like you just need to wait it out. GL!
  • We were using mylicon for gas and my father in law suggested we use gripe water as well.  He said he thought it helped more than mylicon for cramps.  I have noticed that Gideon pulls his legs up a lot less and doesn't seem as uncomfortable.
