Ok all you newbie mommies... here's a very important PSA.
No matter how insistent they are, DO NOT give your toddler your keys as you're putting them into the car seat. Especially when you have a door lock fob on it. And especially if your toddler is a known felon when it comes to pushing buttons.
Fortunately, after several minutes of repeatedly locking the car door, Charlie decided to start pushing the unlock button.
The biggest negative here.. it happened right in front of my condensending sister who knows everything about everything. I will never live this down.
Re: PSA-Toddlers & Car locks
I giggled. I'm sorry.
I love the "known felon" line.
I also lol'd at the "known felon" bit.
Sorry that happened in front of your sister. Glad Charles is OK.

This is how I found out that Pop a lock will come out and unlock your car for free. They also dropped what they are doing to get over to unlock cars with kids inside.
Teagan had the keys after being strapped into her seat and locked doors. We tried to get her to press unlock but instead she just smiled at us and threw the keys. She was locked in for about 20 minutes.
My DH hasn't said anything to me about this but that might be because he would let her have the keys also. Don't beat yourself up, things happen. FWIW, the people I know who know everything about everything are very unhappy people.
Also, this is good to know for everyone because I'm not a Newbie.
Thanks for the advice. As a newbie I listen to any good advice anyone wants to tell me.
Thomas seems to like keys, but so far we won't let him hold them. A friend of mine had a son who took my car keys and "hid" them. (he was about 2 yrs old though) I have enough trouble remembering where I put my keys, without having to "search" for them.
Glad everything worked out. : )
