Okay so my first project was a lion puppet for my SIL, who's an early childhood major in college. It's goofy and cross eyed, but I wanted to practice before I got to my real gifts:
So now I'm working on some things for my best friend who recently found out she's having a boy. Just finished my bib and am so dang proud of it:
And now I've started on the onesie...
They are VERY set on the name Jude and I'm hoping that doesn't change. LOL. So yeah, if you opened this, thanks. I'm being a total attention whore, but I'm sort of new to the whole crafty world... and I'm having a lot of fun.
Re: AW: My first "nesting" project
Those are so cute! I want to start crafting as a hobby, but I really don't know where to start. Do you iron or stitch them on? And do you find the shapes already cut out or use a cricut or anything?
Oh I didn't even think of using my cricut. My parents bought me one for my birthday and I haven't made much with it yet.... Now you got me thinking lol
I'm cutting them out with felt and hand stitching them on. You don't have to know how to sew at all to do this. I haven't mastered the sewing machine yet, although my mom's trying to teach me.
Thanks ladies!
It's addicting.
SUPER cute Nat. Lovin the giraffe!
I am a craft NUT and have a few blogs I follow for ideas... not sure if your interested:

I also look at the craft board on the nest... those ladies AW their cute stuff all the time...
I actually have a cricut but have never used it! I guess that would work awesome for this type of thing. Yeah I'm just drawing them lightly with a pen and cutting them out myself.. I think that's the most fun part of it so I don't know if I'll try the cricut or not.
Like I told Amanda, you definitely don't have to know how to sew to do this. I'm just using that string/yarn we used in 6th grade to make those bracelets (I don't even know what it's called!) and a big needle and doing a simple "whipstitch." I just looked it up on youtube, it's easy as pie. Just make a knot at the end of your string and start stitching.
Thanks for sharing! Checking them out now!
Natalie! I have a project for you if you choose to except it...
I think our babies need a onesie with Gerry LOL
Get to it
For all your non-sewing machine people... Liquid stitch is your new best friend. Go buy a bottle of her and get going.
Yeah the stitching makes them so much cuter! and I totally can do that, its the cutting things out that make me nervous, lol! But my friend's mom has a cricut that I'm sure she would let me use!
Yikes - I completely thought the cricut was used on just paper - like for scrapbookers & card makers. Shows how much I know. ::::runs off to research:::
Well I was thinking you could use it for the pattern then trace and cut on felt. I didn't think it would cut felt directly, but I've never used it so I have no idea!
Amanda - LOVE IT!!
Actually the cricut is supposed to cut through everything. Even leather...
You just have to have a bigger blade and possibly different 'housing' for it when you get into the heavy duty stuff. Be sure to set it so it cuts slowly too.
I'm also quite the crafter and really enjoy sewing with my mom. (it's a lot easier than most people think, and you can make so much with just a few scraps of fabric)
We'll be making these diaper bags in different fabrics for various family members (DH, myself, my parents house, DH's aunt, etc.) and will be making our own little diaper/wipe bags based on how big a wipes container is.

I'll have to post once I actually take on the project.. but there are also plenty of patterns for making baby books, crib bedding (much cheaper), swaddlers, etc... and if you know how to hem/surge the edges, you can make your own baby blankets and burp rags
Nat you've inspired me to get creative! I may have to make a trip to Hobby Lobby tonight during my dinner break
:skips off to start sketching:
