Maryland Babies

Due date is tomorrow-PG update

I had my 40 wk apt yesterday and my cervix is still shut tight and while the babies head is down, he/she is still high.  I know that doesn't always mean that nothing can happen today or in a few days but I was hoping for SOME progress.  He wants to see me again to do a NST on Friday.  I am still holing out for a Saint Paddy's Day baby!  If I don't go on my own over the weekend I will see him again on Monday.  I get the feeling that I am going to be one of those ladies that just won't go into labor...I really want to go on my own and have this baby vaginally..I get the impression if nothing is changed I will either be induced or need to have a c-section.  Hoping not to have to go that route.  I still have some time though!

More than likely I will be posting on my FB when we're going to L&D!

  • WOW that came quick!  I hope you are able to labor on your own like you want. I remember being checked at 39 weeks and having no progress and crying on the way home. It seems silly looking back but at that point, you'd like *something* to happen, you know?

Sending labor vibes your way--I can't wait to see if you have a boy or girl!  Good luck!

  • You are right...things could happen at any time! Don't be too discouraged....many women go past their DD the 1st time around. Hopefully baby will make his/her appearance soon rather than later!

  • :hugs: Try not to stress too much.  It would be very rare for a woman not to go into labor on her own.  The average gestational age for a woman that is allowed to go into labor spontaneously is 41 weeks 1 day.  Due dates aren't an exact science and can be off so hang in there! In the meantime try to rest and relax - that is one thing I wish I would have done more of when I was pregnant.

  • I can't believe your due date is tomorrow!  Time fleies I'm not the one pregnant!  LOL.

I think Dr. Hajj will let you go a couple weeks past your due date as long as the baby looks good.  So don't start worrying about induction quite yet.

I've heard that massaging the feet can cause labor, so you may want to go get a pedi.  And if it doesn't work atleast you'll have pretty toes!

  • Good Luck!! I felt absolutely nothing on my due date and made the terrible mistake of agreeing to an induction the day after my due date.  They inserted a gel the night before and I felt some mild contractions, but nothing major.  And sure enough, I ended up with a c/s.  I agree with weezie, try and get a pedi and pamper yourself before your LO comes.  It is hard to wait!

Ditto all this- I was so stressed when I went post-date w/ DD- partially because I am c-section-phobic and I knew that if I was induced w/ pitocin the chances of me ending up w/ a C/S went way up.  I think my stress kept me from really going into labor on my own.

Also if you can get yourself relaxed enough to enjoy the horizontal mambo you should, tell your DH it's the last nooky he will be getting for at least 6 weeks and to make the most of it.

    Good luck!

I am surprisingly relaxed and I am just going to take whatever happens will happen.  Maybe it's the first timer in me but I think I am more excited just to find out if it's a boy or girl!  It's been hard to coordinate since DH is working two jobs right now but we're working in some sexy time.  hahaha!  So far it hasnt worked yet...but we can have fun trying.

Exactly this - I learned this in one of my birth classes.

  • I just wanted to say that I was induced at 39 weeks (due to losing weight and low fluids), and was able to have a vaginal delivery.  I know a lot of inductions lead to c/s, but mine did not.  Hopefully, you will go into labor on your own, but just in case you end up being induced, I thought I would pass that along.  I had a really good induction experience, and delivered my daughter vaginally within 12 hours of the start of it.  Good luck, and hopefully something happens this weekend!!
