DD has an ear infection and she is on Amoxicilin and now has a raging diaper rash that goes from the lower bellie to her tush... any suggestions on how to treat this? Anyone else have this experience?
It might be a yeast rash/infection. Antibiotics can be rough.
This is what I was thinking too. Yeast rashes don't respond to typical diaper cream. I usually treat it with Lotrimin (which is used for jock itch, but it works) which you can buy about anywhere. If you google yeast diaper rash, you should get some images to compare.
But I do second the Calmoseptine for a regular, nasty diaper rash that's not yeast.
I think it hurts her too because she is way fussy when I change her diaper... I may call the peds and see what I can do, she has her 6 month appt next monday, but not sure I want to wait that long to get it feeling better...

There is a prescription diaper cream they can prescribe, I think it's called Magic Butt Cream (not kidding). If you're not sure what kind it is, it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out.
But I have learned through lots of experience that antibiotics = nasty poos = icky diaper rash.
Thanks everyone for the advice... I actually have some nistatin (sp?) left over from when we had thrush... been using that since yesterday night and its clearing up... If that doesnt get it, I will probably go get something you suggested!
