Random Question: Where to find white tote bags?

First... if you use bar mops, rather than paper towels - Where do you put the dirty ones until it's time to wash?  I have been keeping mine in a plain, canvas bag which I have hanging on a hook in my laundry room - Then I just throw the bag in with the towels when it's time to wash.  It works well but because I bleach the bar mops, the bags are falling apart.

The store where I got them (Fresh and Easy) no longer seems to carry that particular bag.  Where can I find plain, canvas tote bags?

  • Craft stores like Michael's and JoAnn's have them

  • yeah i guess an art store.

i just have a wire trashcan underneath my sink in the kitchen- all the bar mops, bibs and baby washcloths go in there until laundry day

why do you wash the bags? just dump the rags in the washer and call it a day. Sure when it smells every now and then pop it in the washer- but it certainly doesn't need to get washed that much

  • The entrance to our basement is in the kitchen, so I consider the basement door the "laundry shoot."  (The basement is unfinished, and is just used for storage and laundry).  I toss all laundry down the steps throughout the day, then go down once or twice a day and collect it all to start a load.  (And please don't think this means I'm always on top of the laundry.  The ping pong table in the basement usually has a mountain on top of it as well.)  :-)

  • Craft store... perfect!  I wash it often because a lot of the rags that get put in there are wet, causing the bag to get wet and if I washed it, let's say, only every other time that I washed the towels, it would be too long a period and the bag would start to stink.  I wash the towels when the bag fills up - About twice a week.

I tried using a trash-can but I didn't like having to scrub it (and potentially mold) out of it so often - I have found the bag thing to be much easier.

And I would KILL for a laundry shoot!  Gotta' move back East!

  • I let my washcloths/towels dry out and then I throw them in a hanging wet bag (PUL lining).  If that fills up before I need to do the laundry, I toss them in a hamper that I keep by my dryer.

You can get wetbags on amazon, etsy, or cloth diaper stores like abbyslane.  They also make specific kitchen wetbags that you can hang on your oven door, etc.

  • so why don't you just put a plastic grocery bag liner in the trash bag and ditch it once a week?

Or ditch the tote bag, entirely, and just use a grocery bag liner, period.
