Holy moly ladies! I've always respected those of you who have EP'd. Having had to pump 5x a day for the past 5 days to keep my supply up while I am OOT has made me revere what you all do even more! I've never pumped more than twice in one day, and then, only on rare occassion.
Whew! I am glad that this trip is almost done! I've pumped, scalded, cooled and stored nearly 80 oz. of Grade-A Mama Milk! Tomorrow, I head home and just hope that I can clear TSA with no issues so I can deliver all this milk to the adoptive mom I give it to...
Speaking of which, please pray for her, her baby and her family. They were supposed to finalize the adoption yesterday. At the meeting with the judge, they found out that there's a man who has come forward claiming to be the biological father and that we wants custody. This man is not the man who signed away paternal rights at the hospital when the baby was born. The birth mother swears this new man is not the father, but there has to be a paternity test to prove it. It's all very Jerry Springer (including the fact that this man is a convicted felon, meth user and cooker....)...and my poor friend is just beside herself with worry about the outcome of this situation. She has had the baby in her care since she was born on October 16. So if you have any positive thought or prayers to spare, please send some her way.
Re: Big props to EPing mamas...
Oh my! Lots of good vibes for your friend and her baby - that's crazy!
Would the state waive his parental rights in this case, or does he still have the ability to take custody? (I don't know what the laws are like in OK - I hope they favor the adoptive parents in a situation like this!)

i wholeheartedly agree - pumping is hard work!!
re: the custody battle - wouldn't he be deemed "unfit" to be a father, even if he has a biological connection? either way i hope your friend doesn't lose her baby
that would be awful

I am with you on pumping. I pump 4x each day and I HATE it. Necessary evil, I know, but it doesn't make me like it any better.
as for your friend...how horrible. I can't imagine if someone tried to take away my baby. Whether she is an adoptive or biological mama, that is still her baby. Lots of positive vibes and t's & p's for her.
oh my goodness - that man sounds completely unfit!! I hope your friend gets to keep HER baby...
and yes, I EP'd for a month, and only 2 weeks of that was after we brought E home, and I can't imagine doing it any longer! especially when I'm watching him myself. between the time it takes to pump, feed, and wash parts and plus entertaining LO while pumping - ugh! i'm pumping 1x/day, not even every day right now, and I hate it! big props to EPing mamas!
